After Fox News host Tucker Carlson urged his viewers to call the police or Child Protective Services if they see a child wearing a face mask, Joy Reid of MSNBC called Carlson a "male version of a Karen."

“We now know that the male version of a Karen with 9-1-1 on speed dial and a sense of presumed authority over other people’s lives should from this day on be called a ‘Tucker,'” Reid said on her MSNBC show Tuesday, April 27. Reidalso said that she wore two masks to go jogging. The CDC released updated guidance on the same day advising Americans who had taken their two doses of vaccines that they did not need to wear masks when exercising outside, reported Mediaite.

'Wants his America to unleash the hounds'

“Tucker wants his America to unleash the hounds during a time when police violence is under unprecedented scrutiny. None of that matter to Tucker. He thinks masks are like the pins North Koreans wear to show obedience to their leader,” she continued, as per The Wrap.

“Never mind that he demands obedience from his followers, encouraging his Tucker mob to find you at the playground, the zoo or inside a bouncy castle and interrogate you for making a personal choice about how to protect your kids," she added.

Reid had previously interviewed Anthony Fauci, the White House's top Covid-19 adviser, and had asked him how to deal with people who say no to masks, while referencing Carlson.

Her question as she declared "I am one of the fully vaccinated," had been, "Are we really going to get to the end of it? Because, Dr Fauci, at this point it's political. There are people who are paranoid about you. They've decided they don't trust you, they think you're trying to have the government take over their lives or put nanobots in them and Bill Gates is going to physically control them if they get the vaccine. It isn't just hesitancy, it's paranoia. You have Tucker Carlson basically saying that you're not telling the truth, if you're vaccinated there's no reason to wear a mask anymore. You have people screaming at store clerks because they don't want to wear masks. This is not rational at this point, Dr Fauci. So I wonder, what do we do about the irrational resistance to doing the basics, getting vaccinated and wearing masks."

Fauci largely echoed her concerns in his response, conceding that vaccinated citizens could have unmasked gatherings in their own homes under certain circumstances. He insisted, however, on mask-wearing when outside.

'Forcing' kids to wear masks 'should be illegal'

Carlson had told viewers of 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' on Monday, April 26, night that "forcing" children to wear masks outside should be "illegal," and that their reaction to seeing one “should be no different from your response to seeing someone beat a kid in Walmart.” He went on to say that children wearing masks was "child abuse" and that viewers had a "moral obligation" to stop it.

Although children are less likely than adults to become infected with Covid-19 and spread the virus, the American Academy of Pediatrics reports that over 3.7 million children have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began. Wearing a mask will help shield the wearer while also limiting the virus' spread.

'Joy Reid is a zealot, Covid is her religion, mask is her Bible'

People took to Twitter to call Reid out on her double mask-wearing. "Joy Reid is a zealot, Covid is her religion, and her mask is her Bible," said a Twitter user. "Joy Reid: "I still wear a mask when I jog." Fox News: "Treason!", said another. "Joy Reid's idiocy aside, it's striking how perfectly one's attitude towards masks aligns w/one's position on government. Gov serves the ppl = antimask Ppl serve the gov = promask Wearing a mask is more a stance on statism than health at this point it seems," a third chipped in. "Joy Reid is close to bringing back the altitude mask during workouts," said a fourth.

'Her wearing a mask doesn't affect me, you NOT wearing one does'

However, many applauded Reid for her decision to wear two masks. "Joy Reid is being cautious and considerate. I get that you would rather everyone behave like selfish assholes but thank God that isn’t all of America. Take a look at India and say thank you to all the mask wearing liberals over here," said one. "Joy Reid wearing a mask dosen't affect me one bit. You NOT wearing a mask increases the chance of spreading #COVID19. It really is simple, Simpletons!," said another.
