Joy Behar says Trump 'raped the country' over climate change, lauds Joe Biden for joining Paris agreement
'The View' co-host Joy Behar has said former President Donald J Trump “made it his business for four years to rape this country.”
“I worry about my grandchild, you know, I only have one grandchild and one daughter," Behar told her co-hosts on Thursday. "There are some people who have no children who don’t worry about the environment as much. I know them. They just say, ‘Well, I’m not going to be here.’ Well, I’m not going to be here either, but my little Luca is going to be here, and I want him to be able to drink the water and breathe the air."
She went on to celebrate President Joe Biden's executive actions to put the US back into the Paris climate agreement and canceling the Keystone pipeline. "He has other things on his agenda that he is going to do to fix the environment," Behar said, before lashing out at the previous president.
“This man, this Trump, he made it his business for four years to rape this country," she said. "It’s disgusting, and I’m so happy to have somebody who cares about the children back.”
Yesterday, she called Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo) "enemies of this country" alleging the two Republican senators were "encouraging insurrections" and "violence." The two lawmakers faced backlash for challenging the certification of Biden's Electoral College victory on January 6, when the US Capitol was breached. Behar noted how Cruz and Hawley attended the inauguration.
While discussing the ceremony with her colleagues, Behar said she wanted to know, "How did Ted Cruz ever get in there?" "Did he come in underneath Lady Gaga’s skirt?" she continued, adding, "What was he doing there? Why are these enemies there?"
In a statement to Fox News, Hawley reacted to Behar's comments saying: "I will never apologize for giving voice to the millions of Missourians and Americans who have concerns about the integrity of our elections. That’s my job, and I will keep doing it."
Meanwhile, A spokesman for Cruz told Fox News the Texas senator "does not think about Joy Behar at all."
Netizens also criticized Behar for her recent ill-advised comments about Trump. "JOY. If only you could live up to your name! We understand that you are a Democrat, socialist, communist, Marxist, but what did Trump do to qualify as "rape"?" one tweeted. "Has Hunter lost his crack pipe again? This woman clearly doesn’t understand the word," another added, referring to Biden's son Hunter Biden and his past drug addiction troubles.
"Trump has left office, he is no longer a public servant. He is not seeking the public's eye. She just slandered him. He should sue her personally," a third suggested.

Trump, who did not attend Biden's inauguration, left Washington D.C. for Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to speak at a brief farewell ceremony the same day. He later flew to Florida on the Air Force One for one last time. "We have the greatest country in the world, we have the greatest economy in the world, and as bad as the pandemic was we did something that is really considered a medical miracle," he told his supporters at JBA. "I just want to say you are amazing people. This is a great, great country. It is my greatest honor and privilege to have been your president."
"I will always fight for you. I will be watching. I will be listening and I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better," he added. "Have a good life, we will see you soon."
