John Ramsey believes there's 'link' between JonBenet's murder and attack on girl from 'same' dance school

BOULDER, COLORADO: JonBenét Ramsey's father John Ramsey said that he believes there is a "huge connection" between his daughter's killer and a terrifying attack that was carried out months later on another young girl who went to the same dance school as the late beauty queen. The 79-year-old said in an interview with The US Sun that he thinks the same culprit has carried out the two attacks and criticized "lazy" detectives for failing to investigate what he sees as a glaring parallel between the two incidents.

On December 26, 1996, JonBenét Ramsey was only six years old when she was found beaten, bound, and strangled to death in the basement of her family's home in Boulder, Colorado. Her death has been covered in mystery and rampant conspiracy for almost 26 years. No arrests were ever made in connection to the case. It is also one of the most infamous unsolved crime cases in American history. Just nine months after JonBenét's death, a girl who stayed just a few streets away from the Ramsey and attended the same dance school as the pageant queen awoke to find a man dressed in black standing at her bedside with his hand over her mouth at the middle of the night.

The young girl, 12, whose name is not disclosed in the public by the family to protect their privacy was sexually assaulted by the assailant for a period of several horrifying minutes before her mother burst into the room and chased the attacker away. The 12-year-old's father previously told the outlet that had his wife not woken up after hearing noises coming from their daughter's room, they believe she would have likely met the same tragic fate as JonBenét. John Ramsey also said he believes the attacker had been following the family for some time, likely targeting the girl at her dance school.

The victim's father requested detectives to investigate the possibility that the same person could have carried out JonBenét's murder and the attack on her daughter. He was however laughed off by Boulder police who the girl's father believes was "fixated" on the idea that it was John or his wife Patsy who had likely killed JonBenét.

Retired investigator, Lou Smit, who was involved in the JonBenet Ramsey case, stated on national television that photos that he presented could be used as evidence to support a theory that an intruder killed the 6-year-old. Police have said the child's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, remain under an umbrella of suspicion, a claim they have repeatedly denied. No one has been charged in the 1996 case.

After being provided with police documents about the 12-year-old's case by the outlet, John Ramsey called the similarities between the two incidents "unbelievable." He also added that the Boulder police did not take the girl's father more seriously when he urged them to investigate the cases as connected after her attack.

"It could very well be the same guy," John said according to The Sun, speaking from his living room in Utah. "I really thought this was related; there's a similar mode of operation, and it needs to be considered a possible link. But it's shocking, absolutely shocking [that Boulder police didn't investigate the link] ... they absolutely should have." He added, "It's like a second bank robbery in a small town: you've got to look and see if there's a connection. And in my mind, there was a huge connection, both in terms of how it was accomplished, the fact they were both children, and that my daughter and that girl both went to the same dance school."

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to say, 'Wait a minute, this is serious. We've got to look at this as a possible connection", Ramsey said. "But they didn't ... it's insane."
