TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS: A Texas man got away scot-free after accepting a plea deal with eight years of deferred adjudication on a third-degree continuous family violence assault charge, courtesy of Travis County District Attorney’s office. Johnny Charles Ebbs V is accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend to the point where she lost her unborn child.

According to Texas attorney's website, deferred adjudication is when a person pleads guilty or no contest to a charge, and there is no finding of guilt at the time of sentencing. The court puts that person on community supervision, or probation, for a stretch of time, and if the probation is completed, then the original offense is dismissed. But if the person has their probation revoked or violates probation, they could face up to the full punishment of the original charge.

Police said that Ebbs assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, LaShonda Lemons, and then hospitalized her in Austin in 2019. KXAN reported that Ebbs punched Lemons in the stomach and yelled, “F*** you and this baby! You aren’t going anywhere!” The child tragically died three days later due to blunt force trauma

Kelsey McKay who is the attorney of Lemons claimed Ebb's bond and an agreed-upon protective order required him to forfeit his guns which has not happened to this day. “We have firearm surrender laws. We have domestic violence laws. But if there’s not enforcement and implementation of those laws, they’re relatively useless,” McKay said.

Ebbs will now be required to wear a GPS monitor for six months and will not serve any jail time. “Very concerned that the sentencing does not result in safety for the survivor and the community,” domestic abuse advocate Coni Huntsman Stogner said.

MEAWW previously reported that Oscar award winner and talented artist Cuba Gooding Jr has been set free without time in prison in a sexual assault case on Thursday, October 13, in a judgment by the State Superior court in Manhattan. Cuba pleaded guilty to a single count of harassment, thus ending the case. The artist was accused of groping or forcibly kissing three women in 2019. The #MeToo defendant has completed alcohol and behavioral counseling over the past six months. This allowed the actor to withdraw his misdemeanor guilty plea. Meanwhile, the victim, Kelsey Harbert, claimed he got VIP treatment because of "who he was," reported Daily News.

There were 30 women who raised their allegations against him, reports AP. Cuba, who might have faced a year in prison, could trade his guilty plea by attending such therapies and staying safe from not having any criminal records. The 54-year-old actor was previously charged with one count of forcible touching and one count of sexual abuse in the third degree. However, the recent developments will now help him not to even spend a day in jail. There are two more lawsuits and one criminal cast against the actor, claims Daily News.
