Will John Legend divorce Chrissy Teigen? Singer urged to split from 'toxic' wife over Courtney Stodden scandal

Fans of the singer are asking him to separate from his wife who is being called 'evil' and 'psychotic' by many on Twitter

After model Courtney Stodden revealed in a recent interview that Chrissy Teigen had trolled them by telling them to kill themselves when they were still a teen, angry social media users are urging Teigen's husband, John Legend, to divorce her. 

Stodden, who came out as non-binary, shot to fame 10 years ago at age 16 after marrying 50-year-old actor Doug Hutchison. They cited 2011 tweets from the 'Lip Sync Battle' host, where the latter made several problematic remarks to Stodden like, "Go. to sleep. forever."

The screenshots of the tweets were shared by Daily Mail, one of which says, "Saying Courtney Stodden's FB page got shut down for being too sexy is like saying the Nazi's were just meanies. As in, not quite." Another of Teigen's 2011 tweets to Stodden says, "My friday fantasy: you. dirt nap. mmmmmm baby."

"She wouldn't just publicly tweet about wanting me to take 'a dirt nap' but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, 'I can't wait for you to die,'" Stodden said about Teigen during an elaborate interview with Daily Beast.

'When are Chrissy Teigen and John Legend getting a divorce?'

Following the revelations, fans of the singer no longer wanted him to be associated with his wife. "@johnlegend divorce@chrissyteigen she’s toxic!" one of them wrote, while another noted, "Can @johnlegend please divorce this broad already?" One more said, while another wrote, "So we all agree when @johnlegend divorces@chrissyteigen we won't have to deal with her anymore?" A third commented, "The true tragedy of this week is that John Mulaney, NOT John Legend, is getting a divorce." One more, "I hope John Legend divorces you bc you are slandering his name with how evil you are. You’re quite literally a diet Kardashian."

The next quipped, "If John Legend ever surrenders his life to Jesus, he will divorce this woman because darkness & light will never mix. I said the same thing about Kanye when he announced he was surrendering his life to Christ. This is truth." A commenter tweeted, "When are Chrissy Teigen and John Legend getting a divorce? I mean, John's had to at least mention it to her, right? I would imagine John Legend could do so much better than Chrissy, but maybe she has something on him and he can't? Who knows, but if you see this, get out John!" A person reacted with, "Chrissy Teigen is about to leave Twitter again. John Legend needs to divorce her ass. She's mad psychotic I never knew she did all that.."

Why Chrissy Teigen will never divorce John Legend

Facing some trying times together, from rumors of infidelity to struggles with infertility and miscarriage, it has not been smooth sailing for the couple. However, Teigen has previously admitted that she wouldn’t have anyone else by her side. She told Us Weekly in 2017: “I try to deprecate him because he’s so perfect. I got very, very lucky. I don’t know who else could put up with all the s**t we are constantly dealing with. Kids, friends, and work are hard, but John is the easiest part of everything.”

There is also a major reason why Teigen won’t ever think about splitting from her husband and that is their kids. “I told [John] the number one reason we are not getting divorced is because I refuse to see another woman with my baby," she jokingly added in the interview. She also said she’d never leave Legend because it would be way too time-consuming and exhausting. To a fan who asked her about divorcing her husband, she once responded, “Too lazy. Hate paperwork.”

And it's not like Legend has not tried breaking up with Teigen. In an interview with The Guardian, Legend recalled a time early on in their relationship when he tried to call quits. “I was really stressed and busy. I was just like, ‘I’d just be happier single right now,’ and she was like, ‘No,'" Legend recalled. Teigen clarified on Twitter, saying, “It wasn’t a typical breakup. He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a whiny face about everything and so yeah, I was like ‘no.’”
