John Legend feels Kanye's 2020 run will help Trump, warns ‘reckless, misinformed’ voters against choosing him

John Legend is clearly not happy with Kanye West’s decision to run for president in 2020. In a tweet, the 41-year-old singer-songwriter shared an article from Vice.com and emphasized that Grand Old Party (GOP) strategist Lane Ruhland, who is working for Donald Trump’s campaign, has also helped West get on the ballot in Wisconsin.

The article was originally posted by Cameron Joseph of Vice News, the caption of which read, “A little update — The GOP lawyer who helped @kanyewest get on the ballot in Wisconsin is actively working for @realDonaldTrump 's campaign. She's the lawyer of record in their lawsuit to try to get a @prioritiesUSA anti-Trump ad pulled.” Legend re-shared that post and wrote, “Just in case anyone needs some clarity around what's happening here.”

In a different tweet, he also called out the people who plan to vote for ‘Jesus is King’ singer as he said: “Anyway…. Anyone reckless and/or misinformed enough to fall for the okey doke probably wasn't voting for Biden (or voting at all).”

Meanwhile, another report claimed that Trump has refuted speculations that Republicans are trying to help West in his election campaign. During a White House press briefing when a reporter said “at least two people connected to Kanye West’s effort to get on the ballot have been connected to the Republican Party,” the POTUS said he had no idea about it. “No, I don’t have anything to do with him getting on the ballot. We’ll have to see what happens. We’ll see if he gets on the ballot but I’m not involved,” he said.

Trump, instead, gushed about the 43-year-old rapper and his wife, Kim Kardashian. “I like him. He’s always been very nice to me,” Trump said. “I like his wife. His wife recommended certain people – as you know for, including Alice Johnson who’s a remarkable woman – but his wife recommended certain people to get out of prison. They were in prison for a long time, a long, long time. It should have never happened. I took what she said very strong…Kim Kardashian. And she’s got a good heart, very good heart. And I like Kanye very much.”

The latest tweets from Legend came after he admitted that he is not as much close to West as he was earlier. The ‘All of Me’ singer revealed that they are in "different places" now. "I just think we’re doing our own thing. He’s up in Wyoming [where West owns a $14 million ranch]. I’m here in L.A. We’ve both got growing families and I no longer have a formal business relationship with him as an artist, so I think it’s just part of the natural cycle of life,” he said, adding: “Our interaction was almost always about creativity and music. He’s doing gospel music. That’s what he’s focused on right now, designing his clothes, so we’re in different places."

However, Legend also mentioned that the distance between them is not because of politics. “I don’t think we’re less friends because of the Trump thing," he said.
