Fans not keen to see John Krasinki's rumored return as Dr Reed Richards: 'Never got the vibe'

The 'Jack Ryan' star has not been officially confirmed to reprise his role in the next confirmed 'Fantastic 4' movie

As brief as it was, John Krasinski's role as Dr Reed Richards in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' was one of the movie's bright spots. However, there have been negative responses after rumors of his return in the confirmed 'Fantastic 4' movie did the rounds.

Krasinski's Richards was part of the Illuminati comprising Professor Charles Xavier(Patrick Stewart), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Black Bolt (Anson Mount), and Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) — all of whom died at the hands of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). Although the 'Jack Ryan' star has not been officially confirmed to reprise his role in the next 'Fantastic 4' movie, the opinions on Twitter have been surprisingly a thumbs-down. The rumor mills churn after director Sam Raima said the casting was to give fans who had a dream of who the actual Reeds would be.

"I still don't get why anyone wanted John Krasinski as reed Richards. Just a casting that makes no sense to me. Never got the vibe from him at all. One of them fan castings that just seems like it only could have existed with fans of the office," one of the fans wrote. This was seconded by another who wrote, "John Krasinski is probably not coming back as 616 Reed & I'm ok w/ that."

"I’m gonna be honest I didn’t love the choice to make him Mr. Fantastic. That character is meant to be the smartest person in the universe and tbh, and John Krasinski just didn’t give that vibe off in his performance. He kinda looks like Mr. Fantastic but that’s about it," one of the comments read. "I for one, am extremely happy that #Wanda killed off John Krasinski’s Mr. Fantastic in #MultiverseOfMadness With that said. PLEASE cast William Jackson Harper as The MCU’s main Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four," a tweet read.

"This is all john krasinski should do in the MCU imo, i’m even fine with him popping up again down the line i think when the MCU finally introduces F4/Reed then he should be a younger and relatively unknown actor to build this iconic marvel franchise around," one of the fans commented. "I genuinely hope that this wording implies John Krasinski isn't coming back to play Mr. Fantastic. Just leave that casting as a one-off fandom nod, please." A tweet read: "I love John Krasinski as much as the next guy, but it was an incredibly stale performance and it really irked me." 



 



 



 



 



 



 



 

The confirmed 'Fantastic 4' will now be another version that follows the 2005 and 2007 duology and the 2015 forgettable reboot starring Miles Teller and Michael B Jordan. Only time will tell if Krasinki will reprise his role in the upcoming installment.
