There have been numerous debates regarding white supremacy in recent times. People believe that white supremacy is taking over the US and is making the lives of people of color absolutely miserable. Who is John Brennan?

Born in 1955, John Owen Brennan is a former American intelligence officer who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2013 to 2017. He served as chief counterterrorism advisor to US President Barack Obama, with the title Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and Assistant to the President.

Obama intended to appoint John Brennan as CIA director and faced a lot of criticism. Brennan withdrew his name over concerns about his support for torture. Instead, Brennan was appointed Deputy National Security Advisor. He was also the first official in the Obama administration to publicly acknowledge CIA drone strikes in Pakistan, Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

Brennan was also a crucial member in establishing the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation of Donald Trump’s campaign, which included the usage of foreign intelligence, during the period leading up to the US presidential election in 2016.

Why does Brennan feel embarrassed to be a White Male?

Speaking in an interview with MSNBC, Brennan confessed that the US Capitol Riots made him really uncomfortable. The former CIA director also admitted that he feels “increasingly embarrassed to be a White male” after what some of his “White” colleagues have said in recent days.

He also noted that there are only a “few Republicans” who value “truth, honesty, and integrity.” Brennan said: “I must say, to Claire’s point, I’m increasingly embarrassed to be a White male these days in light of what I see of my other White males saying. But it just shows that with very few exceptions like Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, there are so few Republicans in Congress who value truth, honesty, and integrity.”

He also criticized Donald Trump and other Republican lawmakers who believed the riots were being blown out of proportion by Democrats and a certain section of media.

“They’ll continue to gaslight the country the way that Donald Trump did. And the fact that this has such security and safety implications for the American public, and for the members of Congress,” Brennan noted.

His statement drew a lot of reactions from social media as people said that John Brennan should be embarrassed about being John Brennan. “John Brennan should be ashamed to be John Brennan,” one user said. Another user noted: “We are increasingly embarrassed that John Brennan is a White male, too.” Another one shared: "John Brennan - who lied to congress - talking about the paucity of politicians who value "truth" and honesty is a laugh-out-loud joke."

Meanwhile, there were many who supported his remarks. One user shared: “I love that guy. He is an inspiration to so many of us. Very great to know goodness prevails. Thank you @JohnBrennan.” Another one said: “The MAGA mob currently attacking John Brennan, who is proving his point right now, don't understand. They don't have shame or embarrassment, after all those are human emotions.”

“White Male Supremacists are not actually angry at John Brennan. John Brennan is the target of their rage because they've been lied to for *YEARS* by Conservative Trash Media that he's a criminal of the dEeP sTatE. Their promised storm never came, so now they're just fussy,” another user noted. One user wrote on Twitter, "Brennan nailed it".
