The former NSA said the Republican is unfit for the top job as he only thinks about his political motives

President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser (NSA) John Bolton continues to fire salvos at his former boss by saying the latter posed a "danger for the republic" and his re-election would leave the US in a greater peril from which it might never recover. The 71-year-old former White House aide who has worked in several Republican presidencies was sacked in September last year over his strong differences with Trump on policy issues. Recently, Bolton made headlines again with his new White House memoir in which he has revealed many facts about Trump, drawing the commander-in-chief’s wrath.

On Sunday, June 21, Bolton spoke to ABC News' Martha Raddatz in an interview in which he warned about Trump. He alleged that the mercurial president cared little about facts and his decisions are not dependent on "philosophy, grand strategy, or policy" but were only meant to serve his own political future. He hoped that Trump would end up as a single-term president and did not lead the US "irretrievably into a downward spiral we can't recall from". "We can get over one term. I have absolute confidence — even if it's not the miracle of a conservative Republican being elected in November. Two terms, I'm more troubled about," said Bolton, who had serious differences with Trump with his pro-war stances vis-a-vis countries like North Korea and Iran.

Bolton, however, did not speak in favor of the Democratic Party. He said the Dems lacked a "viable national security wing" and hence the upcoming presidential election will remain for him as one with "two unacceptable alternatives". He said he would not vote for any of the two candidates in the election, which is a little over four months from now. Continuing his tirade against Trump, who recently called him a "disgruntled boring fool" who only went after wars, Bolton told ABC News that the former is not fit for the top office and lacks competence. He also refused to see Trump as a conservative Republican.

Bolton won't vote for Trump or Biden

"I'm not gonna vote for him in November," Bolton said. "Certainly not gonna vote for Joe Biden either. I'm gonna figure out a conservative Republican to write in," the former NSA said. It was earlier reported that Bolton told The Daily Telegraph in an interview that he intended to vote for Biden. But a spokesperson for Bolton denied the report while speaking to Axios and said that the former NSA, a lifelong GOP hawk, would not vote for Biden in the presidential election. "This statement is incorrect. The Ambassador never said he planned to vote for Joe Biden," Bolton spokesperson Sarah Tinsley said in a statement.

Bolton’s book 'The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir', which is set to be released on Tuesday, June 23, but has already been leaked in public, has made a number of stunning claims about the president. While some funny revelations said Trump had no idea that Great Britain is a nuclear power, some more serious ones suggested that he sought China’s economic help to win his re-election bid this year. The White House sued Bolton saying he violated non-disclosure agreements and revealed classified information that could put the US' national security in peril.

A federal judge refused to block the book saying its content has already been leaked in public even while slamming Bolton. Meanwhile, Trump tweeted saying it was a "big court win" over his former NSA.
