'I get obsessed with things'
On one of the episodes of his podcast, Rogan addressed the matter once more and commented about battling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Despite the stigma connected with the term "mental illness," Rogan sees it as a good trait that gives him a unique viewpoint and makes him stronger.
The host welcomed comedian and TV producer Howie Mandel on the show. During their talk, Rogan revealed his own mental disorder, attributing it to his proclivity for becoming fascinated with things. "When you are someone like me in particular, you have to know what you can get involved in. Because, I get obsessed with things… That’s my mental illness."
Rogan went on to explain that his mental disorder expresses itself as an intense obsession. “My mental illness is like extreme obsession. Whether it’s games or anything. I just get obsessed with comedy, I get obsessed with martial arts, I get obsessed with things. So, I have to manage my obsessions with the amount of time that I have. I get obsessed with archery. I get obsessed with things.”
'Good mental illness'
Rogan's viewpoint on OCD, on the other hand, is significant since he has found a way to channel it into constructive outlets. "It's a good mental illness to have," Rogan added. He continued to say, "because it allows you to excel at things. "But you have to be able to manage it. I have to know what I can and can’t get too nuts with." Despite his hectic schedule and diverse CV, Rogan recognizes the importance of maintaining his mental and physical health.
