Did President Joe Biden really reintroduce the 2018 National Defense Strategy as the 'new' national security plan? Donald Trump Jr has accused the president of plagiarizing and wrote on Twitter in response to a thread by Director of Communications Natalie Johnson. Johnson had responded to a media report that announced how Biden had shifted focus from the Middle East to Asia and has hence bulked up the unit that coordinates US policy in Asia in comparison to the Middle East.

Politico reported that the changes were opposite of the structure of the Obama-era NSC, where the Middle East directorate was much bigger than it is now and the Asia portfolio was managed by a handful of more junior staffers. On Monday, Press secretary Jen Psaki had also said, "What we've seen over the last few years is that China is growing more authoritarian at home and more assertive abroad," and added, "And Beijing is now challenging our security, prosperity, and values in significant ways that require a new US approach."

To this Johnson had said, "This was literally the 2018 National Defense Strategy. This is not a "shift."" She had also shared a screenshot of Trump's strategy and highlighted the following. "Inter-state strategic competition, not terrorism, is now the primary concern in US National security." She captioned this screenshot, "Biden’s “new” national security plan is literally detailed on the first page of the 2018 National Defense Strategy under...Trump."

It was then that Trump Jr had tweeted, "Plagiarism is kind of his thing… Wait till you hear about his speeches." This tweet by Trump Jr has also resulted in backlash over how Biden and his administration have allegedly stolen yet again. The first being the reference to Trump's claims of voter fraud. One follower wrote, "This “President” is a total fraud like his VP. They both need to be impeached before their stupidity destroys our amazing Republic and incredible Constitution affording us the rights to speak, write, discuss our thoughts and opinions wherever we want. These socialists want us stopped."

Another follower wrote, "Thieves seldom have their own ideas that is why they become thieves so they can have ideas even if they are only stolen ones. And chinajoe has excelled at theft." Another user added, "They are stolen then recycled for later use...must be his definition of a green deal." Another user claimed, "Bidens covid plan is a direct copy of Trump's plan as well. Trump already accomplished most of it, as Biden already knows."

However, there were a few who disagreed with Trump Jr and one of them said, "Your lack of government knowledge is evident...just like your father.." A much harsher follower wrote, "Actually Donnie his thing is "getting it done" where your daddy spent his time hiding in his bunker whimpering about his election loses. We finally have someone where we don't need to keep track of the number of lies being told."

It was also reported that Biden's administration wants to concentrate on avoiding another quagmire in the Middle East and strengthen core alliances in Asia and Europe. They had argued that this was neglected by the previous administration. A former Obama official had said, "Given the structure of the NSC staff, I think they’re pretty determined to stick to their affirmative priorities instead of getting sucked into the Middle East." Karim Sadjadpour, a Middle East expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace was quoted as saying, "Asia policy is directly relevant to American farmers, corporations and tech companies in a way that the Middle East is not, especially given America's domestic energy resources."
