Trump says Joe Biden can only enter White House as president after proving 'ridiculous 80M votes' were not illegal

The outgoing President shot off angry tweets a day after saying he will leave the White House if the electoral college confirmed Biden's win

President Donald Trump on Friday, November 27, said on Twitter that President-elect Joe Biden could only enter the White House if he can prove that that the votes he received in the November 3 presidential election are not fraudulent, taking a step back after admitting on Thursday (November 26) that he would leave the official residence of the US president for the Democrat if the latter was certified as the winner by the electoral college

Trump, who has got only 232 electoral votes, 38 less than the required figure of 270 while Biden got 306 – the exact difference by which the incumbent president defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. However, Trump, unlike Hillary, has also got less popular votes against Biden and the difference is by more than six million. On Thursday, Trump, however, said that it is very difficult to concede defeat because he thinks there has been "a massive fraud" in this poll.

The mercurial president, whose administration has given a go-ahead to the General Services Administration for the transition process, also tweeted on Friday: “Biden can only enter the White House as President if he can prove that his ridiculous “80,000,000 votes” were not fraudulently or illegally obtained. When you see what happened in Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia & Milwaukee, massive voter fraud, he’s got a big unsolvable problem!”

Twitter blue-flagged the tweet saying, "This claim about election fraud is disputed" and linked it with an article that cited experts who said voter fraud is exceedingly rare in the US.

'Biden did poorly in big cities'

In another tweet, Trump said: “Biden did poorly in big cities (Politico), except those of Detroit (more votes than people!), Philadelphia, Atlanta and Milwaukee, which he had to win. Not surprisingly, they are all located in the most important swing states, and are long known for being politically corrupt!” This post was also flagged by the social media giant.

It has been 25 days since the election and counting and Trump is yet to concede defeat or invite Biden to the White House, something that former president Barack Obama did only two days after the election results were announced in 2016. The current stalemate has already seen the second-longest gap between the election and a general meeting between the outgoing and incoming presidents at the White House in the last 40 years. The longest remains the 42-day gap in 2000 when legal complications over the results in Florida delayed a meeting between the then winner George W Bush and Al Gore.

Trump and his loyalists have been criticizing the idea of holding mail-in ballots throughout claiming that it would lead to widespread electoral malpractice. They have been claiming the same even after the election got over but have not been able to produce any solid evidence to back it. They have challenged the result legally but have nor got any relief yet, making even networks like Fox asking him to act responsibly

Meanwhile, a number of foreign leaders have already greeted Biden as the next president, besides a number of top business leaders, some of whom are close to Trump. Even the Republican Party has seen voices surfacing asking Trump to follow the tradition.
