President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have started working towards their promised goals. As Biden has signed several executive orders during the first week of his presidency, many political experts have claimed that Biden would bring normality to the nation that has faced economic recession due to the ongoing pandemic.

Biden’s first approval ratings are also here, and it looks like he has more public support than former president Donald Trump. The latest ratings give Biden an approval rating of 54 percent of respondents, which has surpassed Trump’s 46 percent that he received in November 2020, four years after becoming the president.

Joe Biden's First Week Poll Results

According to a new Monmouth University Poll survey, the newly-inaugurated president sits on the approval rating of 54 percent, whereas only 30 percent disapprove of his term. Biden’s approval rating is reportedly higher than it was at any point during Trump’s term in office. As per the report, a whopping 61 percent American feels optimistic about Biden and his implementation of several policies.

The poll also finds out how Biden’s policies will impact most middle-class people in the United States. As per the results, 30 percent believe middle-class families will benefit a lot from all the policies, 39 percent say they will benefit a little. In comparison, only 27 percent say that Biden’s policy won’t help middle-class families. These numbers are slightly better than Trump’s first poll results, where only 26 percent said that the middle-class would benefit a lot from Trump’s policies.

“Overall, there seems to be more goodwill for Biden than there was for Trump, but it really breaks down along partisan lines. Right now, more people identify as Democrats than Republicans,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.

Another poll from Hill-HarrisX found 63 percent of respondents approved Biden’s job as president while only 37 percent disapproved of the work he has done over the past week. Hill-HarrisX survey was conducted among 941 registered voters, with over 94 of Democratic voters in the survey who said they approve of Biden. At the same time, Biden got approval from only 30 percent of Republicans.

Biden vs Other President's Approval Rating

Biden-Harris has seen an increase in popularity since they were inaugurated on January 20, 2021. Many political experts have applauded Biden’s take on climate issues, coronavirus vaccine and several changes in other domestic and international policies. In addition to this, Biden’s entire cabinet is being described as potentially the most diverse ever.

Under Biden’s administration, the United States of America will see the first Native American cabinet secretary, first female national intelligence director, first Latino homeland security chief and first openly gay cabinet member, among others. The diverse cabinet members have surely helped Biden receive better approval ratings from all fronts.

During the first six months of his presidency, Trump had an average approval rating of 41.4 percent, with an average of 52.2 percentage disapproval. Former President Barack Obama had an approval rating of 60.2 percent, while Geoge W Bush had 53.9 percent, and Bill Clinton had 50.5 percent.

People React to Biden's Approval Rating

Social media users were left divided after Biden’s approval ratings were released. Some called it “fake news” while some applauded the president for all the hard work that he is pursuing.

One user wrote, “Not even a little believable. Fake ass news only making fools of themselves & all of their ilk colluding with them. Embarrassing to watch the really bad magic show.” Another wrote, “Yup. He worked hard at killing 15,000 plus jobs with the swipe of a pen. What a tremendous accomplishment.” Another user wrote, “Approval rating is a joke. If anyone thinks after a week Biden is doing a great job - wake up!” While another wrote, “It might have closed the door on him be able make a comeback, but Biden was always going have a higher approval rating than Clinton, and he only needed to outperform her by like .5% to win. Covid also overshadowed a lot of bad stories about Trump, including his tax problems.”

“Morning Consult Poll: Joe Biden begins his presidency with an approval rating of 56-34, which is a higher job approval than Donald Trump held during his entire term. Biden starts with a positive net approval across all genders, ages, and race. Only “rural” voters are negative," one said. Another said, “joe Biden’s initial approval rating is 63%. The previous guy never broke 50%. Time to start acting like the majority is with us. They are.”
