'Super Crooks' Review: Netflix's animated series leaves you rooting for the villains
Although the total number of episodes in 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure STONE OCEAN' remains unknown, the first 12 episodes, which are now available for streaming on Netflix, certainly sets the tone for this instalment. Right off the bat, it's hard not to miss the opening music video of the anime, which has the iconic CG animation of the 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure' series, along with some of Jolyne's flair. It certainly marks the long-awaited arrival of this instalment.
About the first 12 episodes, Jolyne is proof that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, as there is a rebellious side to her, much like her father was when he was younger. However, this manifests quite differently -- while Jotaro was stoic and emotionally closed off, Jolyne wears her heart on her sleeves. For long time fans of the series, watching Jotaro get so easily bested is not easy, but then again, it is Jolyne's time to shine.
Following the manga itself, she eventually goes on to take on Pucci, in an attempt to save her father's memories which he stole from him. Although she is unable to retrieve Jotaro's memories, she does manage to get her hands on the disc containing her father's Stand, 'Star Platinum'. Episode 12, 'Torrential Downpour Warning', gives fans insight into who Pucci is and what he wants exactly. Compared to the others in the series, Pucci comes off as highly manipulative and cold as a protagonist. With regard to the rest of the episodes, it would certainly be interesting to see how Jolyne gains better control over Stone Free, her own Stand. It looks like we'll have to wait and see until then!
Episodes 1 to 12 of 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure STONE OCEAN' are now streaming on Netflix.
