Jimmy Kimmel slams Trump and Pence, angry viewers ask him to leave US if he isn't happy
Jimmy Kimmel received a lot of flak from the internet after the recent episode of his late-night talk show, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' aired on Thursday night (April 8). The episode featured a quarantine monologue by the host in which he called out President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
The episode started on a funny note with him and Guillermo Rodriguez talking about 'Thirsty Thursday'. Rodriguez even made a special drink to commemorate the event with a chocolate bunny and tequila. He called it 'The Easter Bunny Is Drunk'.
Kimmel spoke about how businesses around the world are making adjustments due to the coronavirus outbreak. He pivoted the conversation to draw attention to Donald Trump's recent address to the press wherein he slammed the World Health Organisation (WHO). The POTUS blamed WHO for minimizing the threat and mentioned it's "not good" on their part to do that. Kimmel then played a video of the president dated January 22 when in an interview, he had mentioned that the virus is not a threat and there's just one person coming in from China and it's all under control and there's no pandemic.
Kimmel also noted that Trump had ignored the memos that his advisor Peter Navarro had written to him warning about the dangers of the virus. Kimmel mentioned that the president's team is working very hard to do damage control by trotting Navarro on Fox News who is now calling Trump "a wartime President and the greatest President in modern history".
Navarro has also mentioned recently that everyone should forget about the memos and focus on getting medicines to the people.
Mike Pence was also slammed by Kimmel for his "self-promotional activities". Kimmel opined that Pence thinks he's Batman whereas he's just Robin and no one really cares about Robin.
After the episode went live, viewers took to Twitter to sound off about Kimmel's monologue.
"@jimmykimmel I’m just watching your monologue from Wednesday night. Wow, you are still a super douche bag asshole. Fuck you. Love from I 30 year Stern listener. You are not fun or funny. Stick a dick in it. I remember when you were funny." wrote an angry viewer.
While another wrote, "@jimmykimmel I wanted to like you but you are a confused puppy. I wanted to see @ModernFam on your show but your monologue turned me off to your show completely. Shame you’re show is only for Democrats, you alienate half the nation. :/"
While another irate viewer wrote, "@jimmykimmel After tonight’s monologue I will NEVER WATCH YOU AGAIN. Trump is making money off this drug? Total propaganda BS! While you’re home, maybe tune into DR OZ. He is honest, interviews professionals and tells truth without a political agenda. If you hate it here, move!!"
