HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', a clip was aired featuring George Santos, a prominent figure in the House Speaker drama, urging people to "do the right thing". This plea, however, has been met with mockery by fans and viewers alike.

Rep Santos (R-NY), who is currently under scrutiny, ended up with a net loss in the latest fundraising quarter. This unusual situation arose as he had to issue refunds to several campaign donors amidst ongoing legal challenges, per The Independent.

George Santos' legal battle

The Congressman has been making headlines due to a superseding indictment of 23 counts including accusations of stealing donors’ identities, running up fraudulent credit card charges, and falsifying donation totals to hit fundraising targets set by national Republicans, per CNN.

Santos is facing additional charges to the initial accusations of wire fraud, money laundering, and public funds theft, to which he pleaded not guilty in May.

His campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, admitted guilt last week for artificially boosting his campaign funds to qualify for a Republican fundraising program. She did this by using the names and identities of family members without their consent.

Despite these circumstances, Santos has expressed his intention to run for re-election and has staunchly refused to step down. In the ongoing competition among House Republicans for the Speaker of the House position, the NY Rep has firmly declined to back House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, claiming he had no interaction with the leader.

Instead, he has voiced his support for House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan for the speakership. In the Jimmy Kimmel Live video, Santos stated, "I just don't think this is the time to play games and politics the American people needs us."

He added, "It has been two weeks of chaos can we go back to work and get serious about it can we all just do the right thing and elect Jim Jordan speaker today."

The airing of George Santos' clip has sparked a flurry of reactions from fans of the show. One user commented on YouTube, "George Santos has much bigger concerns than who is or is not Speaker."

"George Santos talkin' about "doing the right thing". If only these people could actually hear themselves," said another.

A third person claimed, "Santos needs to do the right thing and turn himself in."

"I love how playing an unedited clip of George Santos is considered comical enough to start the show," wrote another.

One person noted, "I can not believe that George Santos can fix his mouth to say do the right thing . He should do the right thing and go to jail."
