'Suck it up!': Jill Biden slammed for saying being first lady is a hard job

The first lady isn't too happy about the 24/7 aspect of the job

Jill Biden had to bear the wrath of people online after she said that being the first lady is a “little harder than I imagined”. The 70-year-old educator made the remark in an interview to ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ at Camp David, which will air on December 12 on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

Speaking with correspondent Rita Braver, she said, “I think it's a little harder than I imagined.” She went on to compare it with other jobs and added: “It's not like a job that you do; it's a lifestyle that you live, and it's not something you leave at 5:00 or at 3:00 … it's 24 hours a day.”

Some people were not happy with her take on being the first lady and a critic tweeted, “Wealthy libs despise hard work.” The second one said, “Jill Biden says being first lady is harder than she imagined https://foxnews.com/politics/jill-biden-being-first-lady-harder #FoxNews well deal with it you guys cheated to get what you wanted do not feel sorry for you.”

A person commented, “O please with the drama in thinking that what you do is hard work. You politicians have no clue about what it's like to actually have to work hard for a living Suck it up!!” A user wrote, Jill Biden says being first lady is harder than she imagined - Fox News Im sure. But Melania did it with grace and style. ⁦ @MELANIATRUMP.” Another one stated, “Depends what you think your role is, I’d guess. I’m sure it’s hard no matter what,unless you are accustomed to being in the public eye and have the grace to successfully handle it. Not everyone can...ie michelle, Hillary and Jill. Sorry, but it is what it is.” But the third one added: “Michelle was the worst tho. Very disrespectful of our flag. Jill cooks cookies. Lol. How hard is that?  Lol.”

“I find Jill's comments to be silly seeing she has been in and around the WH for several years. She knew going in that it is a 24/7 job look how hard Trump worked at that job. Joe not so much he isn't a man of the people. He' in it for the money and promotion of his family not us,” a tweet read.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jill talked about her view on President Joe Biden’s decision to drop free community college tuition from his proposed Social Safety Net bill. She said, “I understand compromise. And I knew this was not the right moment for it. But that doesn't mean it might not get passed somewhere down the future.” She also commented on trying to unify the nation. “I don't care if it's a red state or a blue state. I think, you know, Joe is the president for all Americans,” Jill told the reporter. Joe also spoke with Braver and stated, “I'm a lucky man. Jill is the life of my love and the love of my life.”

‘CBS Sunday Morning’ shared the clip on Twitter, and which received a lot of positive responses from a number of people. A fan said, “Wow!  What a breath of fresh air after holding my nose for 4 years of Melania. Smart, strong, tough, Jill Biden IS America’s First Lady.  No wonder she and Michelle Obama were buddies . . . mutual respect.” Another one wrote, “Something about FLOTUS is so incredibly refreshing.” The third user tweeted, “Bonus: She is a good and decent person. Very intelligent, genuine and beautiful. The last time we had a First Lady this amazing was Michelle Obama.”

A person remarked, “God Bless our 1st lady, she is wonderful, and we appreciate all of her hard work & sacrifice. Thank you Dr. Jill.” Another one mentioned, “Love it.”
