MIAMI, FLORIDA: With a swipe left and swipe right, modern dating apps have left many singles feeling jaded and hopeless. What if the answer to finding true love is by looking to the past? Enter 'Jewish Matchmaking', Netflix's latest reality series that brings back the age-old tradition of shidduchim. In this unique dating system, Orthodox Jewish singles are introduced by a matchmaker with the ultimate goal of marriage. The show's host, Aleeza Ben Shalom, guides the hopeful singles from the US and Israel on their quest to find their soulmate.

This captivating series offers a peek into the fascinating world of arranged marriages and the complexities of finding love within the Orthodox Jewish community. Among the stars of the show is Noah Dreyfuss, a 26-year-old investment advisor with a unique perspective on religion. Growing up in a traditional Orthodox family in Baltimore, Noah had his fair share of rebellion before fully embracing Judaism. He moved to Israel and found his wife through the shidduch system, but they eventually parted ways due to the pressures of fitting into society. Noah now seeks a more relaxed approach to formal observance, and his journey on the show provides an intriguing look into the intersection of faith, love and tradition.

Divorce made Noah's dating life complex

Noah's story is unique as his religious journey has always alternated between orthodoxy and a more relaxed approach. Growing up in Baltimore, he found himself rebelling against the orthodox traditions, but he eventually returned to his faith with a newfound devotion that even surpassed that of his parents. However, as time passed, he found himself needing to find a balance that worked for him, and he eventually settled into what he calls "Flexidox," a way of keeping the spirit of his religion alive while also adapting it to his lifestyle.

As a successful financial investment advisor based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Noah is very much into the outdoors, and he was looking for a match who shared his passion for nature and adventure. "I like to complement my work life, which is mostly at home and working from my office, with going out hiking, skiing, biking, taking my dog Max out every day," he said, adding, "So, I like to get a good amount of outdoor exposure." However, finding a match who shared his interests and his unique approach to religion was no easy feat.

Noah had been through a divorce and had a 13-year-old son to consider when looking for a companion, and he was also "a very particular person" who had high standards for his ideal match. He wanted someone who shared his cultural and spiritual values, but who was also open-minded. He was hoping to find someone who could appreciate his taste in music, particularly the band Phish. "I'm a big fan of Phish, and I go to their concerts quite often," he said, adding, "It would be great to find someone who's into that scene as well."

Noah doesn't feel compatible with Eliana

Shalom's expertise in matchmaking has brought many Jewish couples together, but it was not an easy feat. In 'Jewish Matchmaking', she introduced Noah to fellow "flexidox" Jew, Eliana Stepansky, a 31-year-old pharmacist from Florida. Despite sharing similar beliefs and a love for the outdoors and traveling, both their dates ended with a realization that they were not compatible. Their lack of chemistry and interests left them with nothing much to talk about and they eventually parted.

Not one to be deterred, Shalom continued her search for a perfect match for Noah. She soon introduced him to Ophir Gross, a resident of Arizona whose background, beliefs, future expectations, and interests aligned with Noah's to a large extent. During their first date at a pub, it was evident that they were able to connect and engage in light-hearted banter that quickly transitioned into deeper conversations about their aspirations and family plans. It didn't hurt that Ophir was also open to adventures and had close relatives in Israel, which was a huge plus for Noah. Most importantly, she didn't even flinch at the mention of his son, which was a big relief for him.

As the two continued to date, they found that their connection only grew stronger. Noah was drawn to Ophir's maturity and her ability to handle a long-distance relationship with ease. He even admitted that he found himself thinking about her more often than he thought he would. Ophir, on the other hand, appreciated Noah's honesty and how he opened up about his past relationships and experiences. She saw him as someone who was kind, considerate and had a heart of gold. Though the two were geographically far apart, they continued to communicate through video calls and text messages, making plans for their next meet-up.

Are Ophir and Noah still together?

The quest for true love is a tricky journey, and sometimes it leads to unexpected twists and turns. For Noah and Ophir, their search for a life partner took them to Netflix’s 'Jewish Matchmaking'. Noah and Ophir's first meeting on the show seemed promising. "He is so sweet," Ophir gushed after their initial encounter, adding, "And I love kids, I definitely want to have a family, and he wants to have a family too. So who knows? You know, could be a blended family [with his son included]." Her optimism was mirrored by Noah, who praised Ophir's outgoing and confident personality, and noted that they seemed to want the same things in life. "I'm super excited about seeing where this could go," he said, hinting at his intentions to see Ophir again.

Despite their initial connection, it appears that things did not work out between Noah and Ophir. A quick glance at their social media platforms reveals no evidence of a relationship, and the fact that they don't follow each other on Instagram suggests that they have not kept in touch since the show ended. However, neither of them has confirmed or denied their relationship status at the time of writing, leaving fans to speculate about what might have happened. Regardless of the outcome, both Noah and Ophir seem to have enjoyed their experience on the show and learnt a lot about themselves. As for what the future holds, only time will tell if they will find their true love through traditional or modern means.
