Jesus Ramirez: Man accused of fatally stabbing stranger in NYC subway back on streets as judge sets bail at $100,000
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A man was recently accused of killing a stranger by stabbing him to death outside the Port Authority subway station last week during a fight. Now, the man is back on the streets as the judge, despite objection from the prosecutors, granted bail in the murder case. The accused had to present just 10 percent of a partially secured bond even for the act that was caught on CCTV.
The 28-year-old Jesus Ramirez bid goodbye to Rikers Island on Saturday, August 27 as Acting Supreme Court Justice Suzanne Adams granted him bail. Ramirez was put back on the streets after Adams set a measly $100,000 bail amount in the murder as per the New York Post. He killed the 49-year-old Guarionex Torres in Hell’s Kitchen and the act was caught on camera. Ramirez was brought in front of the judge earlier that day on charges of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in Torres’ death. According to the criminal complaint against Ramirez, he was found by the officers on Friday, shirtless and covered in the victim's blood. The cops said that Torress had a criminal history with over 30 arrests.

Jesus Ramirez granted bail in murder case
Ramirez told the officers as per the documents, "He attacked me first. I stabbed him." Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office argued to keep Ramirez behind bars without bail in this murder case, but Adams instead otherwise set the bail. At the time, the police said that a knife and brass knuckles were recovered. As per the cops, Torres was knifed in the neck and groin during a fight with Jesus Ramirez. The reason for this clash was that they bumped into each other at West 44th Street and Eighth Avenue just before 1 am on Friday, August 26.
The criminal complaint against Ramirez reads that he used a knuckle knife blade to slash and stab an unarmed Torress. The damage was serious as Torress was with cuts from his right ear to his left cheek, his neck, and arm, and a stab wound in his torso. A source told the New York Post that the 49-year-old deceased was found in his own pool of blood and had parts of his body hanging off. The source said, "[Ramirez] stabbed the guy to death, mutilated him with brass knuckles with a knife in the middle. Slashed the guy and hit all the organs. Had to know what he was doing." Ramirez is due back in court on August 31.
