Jersey Shore's original castmate Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki announced her exit from the reboot of the show — 'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation' — this past December. She was a part of the original 'Jersey Shore' that premiered on MTV between 2009 and 2012.

A reboot was announced with much fanfare and the show returned for 'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation' in 2018. Snooki returned too along with all her original castmates — Pauly D, Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino, Jenni Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Mike Sorrentino and Angelina Pivarnick.

Sammi 'Sweetheart' Giancola was the only one who didn't return for the reboot stating that she is in a different place in her life and would like to stay away from situations that the show might put her in. Snooki has decided to follow suit after filming for three seasons of the reboot and has retired from the franchise that catapulted her and all the castmates to fame. Snooki has come a long way from her alcohol-guzzling and partying days. It is hard to imagine 'Jersey Shore' without Snooki and if at all the makers look at a replacement, those are some big shoes to fill.

On Tuesday morning's 'Pop of the Morning', 'Jersey Shore' castmate Angelina stood by Snooki's decision to step out of the MTV hit show.

"She has three kids. I mean, it must be hard for her to leave her kids to actually film. She has a newborn at home," Pivarnick told co-hosts Victor Cruz, Lilliana Vazquez and Scott Tweedie. "You have to think about and step in her shoes and just be like, 'Ok! Maybe this is what it is!'." She later added that she can totally understand how Snooki feels since she herself finds it difficult to leave her cats and dog at home.

Snooki announced her decision on her podcast 'It's Happening with Snooki & Joey' on December 6, 2019.

She explained that it is difficult for her to leave her children behind to film for the series and the best thing for her would be to step down from the show. She further elaborated that partying days on end is not her life anymore and that she would rather focus on being a mom. "I quit every time we film because I just hate being away from the kids. I don't like partying three days in a row. It's just not my life anymore. I want to be home with the kids. I don't mind here and there going to a dinner or whatever, but it's just really hard for me to leave the kids and film the show," she said.

Fans of the show have since been devastated and taken to social media to voice their heartbreak.

One user wrote, "@snooki I don't know if I want to watch @JerseyShore without you you are my faveeeeee." Another user tweeted, "I was just informed that @snooki is leaving the Jersey Shore... please respect my privacy at this time while I black out in her honor."

It definitely feels like the end of an era with Snooki leaving the show and she was undoubtedly one of the breakout castmates. Whether the show returns for a fourth season remains to be seen but what we know for now is that it will not be the same without Snooki.
