'His intellect, heart and humor will live on': Jerry Springer laid to rest in 'small' traditional Jewish ceremony

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jerry Springer, the former mayor of Cincinnati who died from pancreatic cancer, was laid to rest in a "small" private ceremony in Chicago over the weekend. The late TV show host was surrounded by his close friends and family members while he was buried in the suburbs on Sunday, April 30, 2023, during a traditional Jewish ceremony.
The witty television personality died only months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was mostly known for his legendary hit 'The Jerry Springer Show' which brought wild and raunchy moments into the living rooms of millions of Americans.

Fans will be able to bid farewell to Springer
According to TMZ, the fans, who were told to "take care of yourself" at the end of every show by Springer, will be able to pay their respects to him for the final time on May 16 at a public event in Cincinnati. Springer's public funeral will likely include appearances by several celebrities appearances and live music.
Who is expected to attend the event?
Some of the political figures from the time when Springer served as the mayor of Cincinnati in 1977 are expected to attend the event. The funeral, which has been described as a "big deal", will be free and open to around 500 people.
'I want to enjoy life'
Springer's sudden death came just a year later after he said he wanted to retire while he was "still healthy". NBCUniversal canceled his latest show 'Judge Jerry' at the time. "I don't have to make a living. I want to enjoy life", he added, according to Daily Mail.
'He's irreplaceable'
"Jerry's ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word," family spokesman Jene Galvin said on Thursday, April 27. "He's irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on," he added.
Springer jokingly declared himself as "Talk show host, ringmaster of civilization's end" on his Twitter profile. 'The Jerry Springer Show' became so popular in the 1990s that it even managed to top Oprah Winfrey's show in several cities.
