On Friday, June 3, 'Jeopardy!' aired an episode that shocked Long Island residents. "Type of institution that has a 'row' in Garden City on Long Island, including one on firefighting and a children's one," read a question, prompting the unanimous response of "museum." However, the mentioned row which includes the Long Island Children's Museum, the Cradle of Aviation Museum, and the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center is indeed situated in the hamlet Uniondale, a few miles east of Garden City.

'Jeopardy!' fans on Long Island were angry when they saw the incorrect Nassau County village's name highlighted in a question during last Friday's broadcast, according to the Long Island Press. Local legislator Siela Bynoe of Uniondale and the nearby regions in Nassau County is making sure that the show and its audience won't ever forget this mistake.

According to Long Island Press, she wrote a letter to 'Jeopardy!' executive producer Michael Davies addressing the show's error, which identified a posh suburb instead of the actual working-class neighborhood. "For many years, Uniondale community leaders have fought to ensure their hometown receives the full recognition that it deserves from government and media organizations," Bynoe wrote.

The zig-zagging nature of the borders between Uniondale, Garden City, and nearby Hempstead can be perplexing even to residents, especially along Museum Row, which is built on the old runways of Mitchel Air Force Base. Bynoe, on the other hand, was not satisfied with the misrepresentation.

"Guided by a shared desire 'to make Uniondale whole,' they and the hamlet's elected officials engage in sustained advocacy to ensure regional attractions such as Museum Row are not erroneously attributed to neighboring communities," she stated. This wasn't the first time a Uniondale appeared on 'Jeopardy!' nor was it the first time the community was enraged by an on-air blunder.

The New York Islanders, who played at the nearby Nassau "Fort Neverlose" Coliseum for four decades, were the correct answer to an $800 question about "hockey" a few years ago. When late presenter Alex Trebek delivered the clue "Bryan Trottier sparked this team to four Stanley Cup Championships from 1980 to 1983," current host and former contestant Ken Jennings responded incorrectly with the New York Rangers.
