SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Natasha Yi, wife of popular DJ, Jeffrey 'JV' Vandergrift, whose body was found floating in San Francisco Bay after a month-long search opened up about his heartbreaking death, saying, “Every moment he was missing was agonizing for me." Vandergrift was reported missing on February 23, before being found floating at Pier 39 on March 22. 

Fellow host at the Bay Area’s Wild 94.9, Natasha wrote, "But the pain I feel now is something I have never felt before. My heart is crushed, and I cannot see myself ever moving forward, ever feeling joy or being at peace." Vandergrift was mentally struggling after being diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2021. However, Natasha claimed she will not share much information about the DJ's death out of respect for him and their family.

Jeffrey 'JV' Vandergrift and Natasha Yi's relationship

Yi and Vandergrift married in 2006 and renewed their wedding vows in 2017. Natasha is also a part of her husband's show 'The Dog House' and a fellow host on Bay Area’s Wild 94.9.  "I am devastated that the love of my life is gone. But what I do know is that JV loved his work and he loved connecting with all of you. He loved his family, and I know he loved me as much as I love him," she said.

"Our bond was truly unmatched. JV did not want to leave any of us. For now, I am with JV’s family in mourning, and we all ask for privacy during this time. I know all of you cared for and loved JV, so please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Remember his laugh, kindness and the immense impact he had on many of you and our entire community. JV, my love, I will cherish the time we had together and will miss you until the day I see you again. — Natasha," she concluded. Vandergrift's cause of death remains unclear while police said there was no evidence of foul play involved.

Jeffrey 'JV' Vandergrift's cryptic post

The long-time host previously shared on his morning show about his ongoing Lyme disease condition. He said, "The stuff I’ve been going through in my brain that they’re trying to figure out. The body and the pain and all that stuff, I can handle. What it’s doing to my brain I could never describe to you." According to a post on the station's website detailing Vandergrift's diagnosis, he endured "brain fog,” headaches, dizziness, extreme bouts of depression, and other adverse symptoms" for months, "before he learned what was wrong."

It’s been a great journey," read the DJ's caption of his post on Instagram before he was reported missing while his Twitter location read "the other side" at the time of his disappearance. "Your support & prayers meant the world. Keep shinin’ love=❤️ compassion=🧡 understanding =💛 truth=💚 forgiveness=💙 peace=🤍 and hope=💜for others."
