Jeffrey Epstein died of hanging, was found in cardiac arrest and nearly unconscious in New York jail
Jeffrey Epstein, the well-connected financier accused of orchestrating a sex-trafficking ring, killed himself while awaiting trial in a New York prison, officials said on Saturday.
A gurney carrying a man who looked like Epstein was seen being taken out of Manhattan Correctional Center around 7.30 am Saturday, August 10.
The body was taken to New York Downtown Hospital in an ambulance, according to reports.
Lauren Peikoff, a senior producer for MSNC, wrote on Twitter that Epstein died of hanging.
The 66-year-old was reportedly found nearly unconscious in cardiac arrest with injuries on his neck.
He was being held without bail pending trial on child sex-trafficking charges, according to a report in NY Post.
Epstein's death comes a day after unsealed documents in New York revealed the extent of his abuse of young women at his homes in Palm Beach, New York and the Virgin Islands.
On Friday, the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld the decision to make over 2,000 pages of court filings public and minutes later documents were unsealed and revealing detailed information about the three year period when Victoria Roberts, one of the first woman to speak out about Epstein's sex cult, was trafficked.
The documents revealed that his sex life included threesomes with “strap-on” dildos and demand for three orgasms a day.
Epstein would allegedly make his butler clean up after him once he was done with his victims.
In a 2016 deposition unveiled among the plethora of documents related to a defamation suit filed against Epstein’s alleged madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, the butler - John Alessi stated: "I would find things like a dildo.” Additionally noting how Epstein’s sex toy of choice was "called a double".
“I find these things, put my gloves on, [take] it out and rinse it and put it in Ms. Maxwell’s closet,” Alessi told the lawyer for Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.
Epstein was found injured in his jail cell following a possible suicide attempt last month.
Epstein’s lawyers had argued that home confinement, along with electronic monitoring, surveillance and a bond secured by a mortgage on the Upper East Side mansion, which is valued at $77 million, would ensure that he does not flee the country.
Epstein was arrested on July 6 over the alleged sexual abuse of young girls in his Upper East Side townhouse and his mansion in Palm, Beach, Florida, between 2002 and 2005. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and so faces 45 years in prison if he gets convicted.
In the meanwhile, Virginia Roberts and another underage victim of Epstein's sex cult filed a suit against the government for signing a plea deal with Epstein in July 2018 without informing the plaintiff of the same. The documents that were unsealed on Friday were a result of the same case.
