Jared Kushner lauds Joe Biden for calling Iran's bluff, Internet drags him for $24K hotel bill before WH exit
Former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner has been trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons. In an op-ed he penned, he praised the Joe Biden administration for its Iran strategy. In an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal, Kushner wrote that Biden's refusal to remove sanctions before Iran returns to compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal is a "smart diplomatic move."
"While many were troubled by the Biden team’s opening offer to work with Europe and rejoin the Iran deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, I saw it as a smart diplomatic move," Kushner wrote. "The Biden administration called Iran’s bluff. It revealed to the Europeans that the JCPOA is dead and only a new framework can bring stability for the future."

"When Iran asked for a reward merely for initiating negotiations, President Biden did the right thing and refused."
This is particularly noteworthy because Kushner led Middle East peace talks during the Donald Trump administration. Former President Trump had withdrawn the US from the Iran deal in 2018. And today, many Republicans are seeking that President Biden do the same and not return to the agreement. Kushner's views are in contrast to what his father-in-law, Trump, said of the Iran agreement.
While a lot of this didn't sit well with social media users, it went over the top when Kushner actually credited Trump for laying the groundwork that could help Biden. "This negotiation is high-stakes and, thanks to his policies, America holds a strong hand. Iran is feigning strength, but its economic situation is dire and it has no ability to sustain conflict or survive indefinitely under current sanctions."
What bothered most was Kushner's trivialization of the matter, writing that "We are witnessing the last vestiges of what has been known as the Arab-Israeli conflict."
"Writing in today's Wall Street Journal, Jared Kushner evidently forgets that the Palestinians exist and that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is very much alive," former New York Times reporter Steven Greenhouse wrote. "Jared Kushner makes a very big claim in the @wsj this morning," White House reporter for The Washington Post Annie Linskey wrote.

A user tweeted, "And Kushner is suddenly an elder statesman foreign policy expert attempting to gain cred after all the Saudi/UAE grifting involving stealth financial deals and arms sales to the House of Saud? I’m not fooled. @WSJ". Another user tweeted, "Jared Kushner thinks he can give foreign policy advice to President Joe Biden and his expert foreign policy team, including Sec of State Blinken. He says "if the Biden admin is smart." The arrogance of this little shit."

A big blow to taxpayers
At the same time, the Internet received another reason to rip on Kushner after a report from the Daily Beast started doing the rounds that he had raked up a whopping $24,000 hotel bill a month before he left the White House. In December 2020, Kushner led an Israeli delegation to Morocco where Kushner visited the US Embassy in Jerusalem. This has also angered social media users.
"This criminal should be investigated him and his wife made 640 Million dollars in 4 years and what is hidden nobody knows about ..." one user tweeted. "I say that the @OfficeGovEthics should investigate, send him the bill & then @TheJusticeDept prosecute him for fraud; because that is NOT an authorized expense, never mind per diem rate," another user added.
