With 'Peacemaker 2' officially underway, one of the major questions is if James Gunn is involved with more DC projects apart from the John Cena-starrer HBO Max series. The filmmaker took to Instagram Live to shed light on the question and after teasing "another thing" with the sequel of the hit show, speculations are rife if he is involved in making a Bloodsport series starring Idris Elba.

When Gunn was asked if he was looking forward to any DC projects after 'The Suicide Squad', he replied, "I am! And thanks!" A second question asked him to reveal more details of his mystery project, to which he revealed "Peacemaker Season 2... and another thing." A comicbook report suggests that there could be a spinoff starring Viola Davis' Amanda Waller who was last seen in 'Peacemaker'. Her Task Force X was outed in public by her own daughter, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks). Perhaps, the unannounced series may center around Waller, or there might be a Bloodsport series in the works as well.

The reason behind Bloodsport was Elba himself teasing a big DC return. Talking to Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes reporter Erik Davis ahead of his 'Beast', he said, he's "got a really big thing cooking for DC right now." Adding more fuel to this speculation was also Gunn hinting at the character's return. "I am working very seriously on another DC project, where I'm very involved in the writing and the direction of it," Gunn recently told The Playlist. "There will be some blending of the characters from Peacemaker in the other shows I'm working on. And I'm involved with a couple of other [DC] things too."

In a way, it does make sense to get a Bloodsport series. The DCEU already introduced a similar assassin in Deathstroke in 'Titans' Season 2. Esai Morales played the master villain Slade Wilson and with Gunn focussing on the anti-heroes, a Bloodsport miniseries will surely leave fans intrigued. "I'll start shooting after I'm done with a post on Guardians Vol. 3," Gunn confirmed. Previously, it was revealed that Season 2 of Peacemaker would begin production sometime in 2023.
