The plot of the film focuses on Toby who is a goody-two shoes kind of a woman who always followed rules. After losing her job, she starts her own non-profit organization which shelters abused dogs. Then, one day she creates a strategy to get her young lover John, a convicted murderer, out of jail in a dog crate. The plan succeeds and triggers a massive manhunt by the police to catch both John and Toby. Nothing is ever same again for both of them. Before this film releases on Lifetime, fans can also watch films like ‘Brazen’, ‘Black Beach’ and ‘Windfall’.

The much awaited crime thriller film ‘Jailbreak Lovers’ is releasing by July 2, 2022 at 8 pm ET on Lifetime.

What is the plot of ‘Jailbreak Lovers’?

The plot of the film revolves around Toby (Catherine Bell) who has never done anything illegal and always played it safe.  Toby loses her job and starts a non-profit organization which shelters abused dogs. But she finds herself racing against time when her young lover John (Tom Stevens) is a convicted for a murder. They form a plan of rescuing him from jail in a dog crate which kickstarts a manhunt for the criminal and Toby.

The official synopsis reads, “Inspired by a true story, Jailbreak Lovers follows Toby (Catherine Bell), a woman who always played by the rules. Toby never ran a red light, married the only boy she ever dated, raised a family and went to church. She did everything she was supposed to do. When Toby loses her job and starts a non-profit to rehabilitate abused, rescued dogs at the local prison no one could have anticipated that she would end up on the run, shacked up with her younger lover John (Tom Stevens), a convicted murderer. The star-crossed lovers hatch a plan to break John out of prison by smuggling him out in one of the dog crates, sparking a federal manhunt”.

Catherine Bell as Toby

The 53-years-old American actress has been loved for some of her finest performances in television series like ‘JAG’, ‘Army Wives’, Hallmark’s ‘The Good Witch’ films franchise and television series as well. She has also acted in films like ‘Meet Me at Christmas’, ‘Home for Christmas Day’, ‘High-Rise Rescue’, ‘Christmas in the Air’, ‘A Summer to Remember’ and so on. Bell is going to be seen playing the lead role of Toby in much awaited crime-thriller film ‘Jailbreak Lovers’.



 

The film also stars Tom Stevens and Prince Justin Atkinson.

The film has been inspired from the real-life story based on published author Toby Dorr’s new memoir titled, ‘Living with Conviction’. Toby Dorr’s real-life story serves as the canon basis for ‘Jailbreak Lovers’. Author Toby Dorr’s actually did use a dog crate to rescue her young lover John from the jail, which changed things for her and John, forever. The movie has been extensively shot and filmed in  Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

'Jailbreak Lovers' is produced for Lifetime by Crate Productions Inc. Catherine Bell, Angela Mancuso, Stacy Mandelberg and up-and-coming director Katie Boland serve as the executive producers for this film. Supervising producers are Oliver DeCaigny and Tom Stanford.  Katie Boland has helmed the film. The screenplay of the film ‘Jailbreak Lovers’ has been written by Anne-Marie Hess and Jodie Burke.
