BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN: A 17-year-old young student, Jack Snyder, was carjacked and gunned down by two teenagers aged 13 and 14 years. The duo killed Snyder after he offered them a ride back to their home following a birthday party. He was found lying next to his car at around 12.10 am on January 17 in Battle Creek.

On Sunday, February 19, the 14-year-old boy, Justice Chimner, was arrested, and later, the 13-year-old surrendered to the police. Though a medical team tried to revive the 17-year-old, he was later declared dead at the scene.

What is the response from the police?

Battle Creek Police Sergeant Jeff Case said they had recovered a gun from the spot. "The victim was trying to be a good Samaritan by giving them a ride with the cold temperatures. I do know that he resisted the carjacking. So again, he was trying to help out but wasn't just going to give over the car," Case said. Chimner will be charged with felony murder, carjacking, and two weapons-related violations, as per Daily Mail. Chimer will be charged as an adult and may even face a  maximum sentence of life without parole. Meanwhile, the 13-year-old has been charged with murder, as per Fox 17. Teachers held a vigil for the young boy and the funeral was held on Friday, February 24. He was in the National Honor Society and had also enrolled in an EMT program via a local community college.

What is the response from the family?

Snyder's sister, Meadow Snyder wrote on Facebook, "On behalf of my family and I, we want to thank every single person that has reached out and came to see us. I’ve heard from people that I haven’t seen or heard from in years and it shows how much support we have during this never ending nightmare. My Brother was 17. He was supposed to graduate this year and these monsters took his future away from him. He was the smartest out of all of us.

He was gonna leave this shitty place. He had the biggest heart, he cared so much for others. They took our brother away from us. It doesn’t seem real, it’s all fake news. I miss him so much. I can’t bare the thought of not seeing my baby brother ever again. We love and miss you so damn much Bubba! Tomorrow we would like to host a memorial at the scene. All is welcome. The more support the better. We will include a time and place (incase not everyone has heard) tomorrow afternoon. SHARE THE SHIT OUT OF THIS POST! We ask that if anyone has seen or heard anything to please please contact the authorities. We have recognized all of the texts and phone calls, we apologize if we haven’t reached out to everyone as we are trying to grieve. Again thank you so much for the love and support. We love you all. #JUSTICEFORJACKSNYDER."
