Hulu is coming out with a new documentary and this may be one to watch. 'Jacinta' a documentary based on drugs and addiction is set to premiere soon with it promising to give a proper insight into the stories of incarcerated addicts and how they cope.

'Jacinta' follows the lives of mother-daughter duo Rosemary and Jacinta in jail over the span of three years as they struggle with addiction and their emotions. Life in prison is already hard, but life as a recovering addict, even harder. What follows is a gritty true story of the dangerous affliction and how it consumes your life and your loved ones too in Hulu's new documentary.

Plot

Hulu in its press release says, "Filmed for over three years, 'Jacinta' begins at the Maine Correctional Center where Jacinta, 26, and her mother Rosemary, 46, are incarcerated together, both recovering from drug addiction. As a child, Jacinta became entangled in her mother's world of drugs and crime and has followed her in and out of the system since she was a teenager. This time, as Jacinta is released from prison, she hopes to maintain her sobriety and reconnect with her own daughter, Caylynn, 10, who lives with her paternal grandparents. Despite her desire to rebuild her life for her daughter, Jacinta continually struggles against the forces that first led to her addiction. With unparalleled access and a gripping vérité approach, director Jessica Earnshaw paints a deeply intimate portrait of mothers and daughters and the effects of trauma over generations"

'Jacinta' paints an intimate portrait of mothers and daughters, the effects of trauma and a young woman's fight for her future. We see Jacinta try and better her life as she wants to reconnect with her daughter. But things aren't easy as a drug addict with sobriety being a slippery slope.

Cast

Jacinta

Jacinta is the titular cast of the documentary ' Jacinta'. A recovering drug addict who's been in and out of jail, she is looking to better herself. She got connected to this life through her mother who she idealized but is now suffering. When she gets out of jail she hopes to get back in touch with her 10-year-old daughter who has to live with her grandparents. Although feeling guilty about leaving her mother being she needs to make amends.

Rosemary

Rosemary is Jacinta's mother and a fellow recovering addict. Her choices and influence over Jacinta led her daughter to follow in her footsteps from an early age. Although she's happy to see her daughter free and on the road to recovery, she does not wish to be left alone in prison. Rosemary has a criminal record and frequents prison regularly. She will appear along with Jacinta in the Hulu documentary 'Jacinta'.
