Is President Donald Trump’s clan a “crime family”? This has been a pertinent question on the minds of people since a report landed on Sunday, September 27, saying that Ivanka Trump appears to have received "consulting fees" that helped reduce the POTUS family’s tax bill.

A New York Times report shows that Ivanka, while working as an employee of her father’s firm, Trump Organization, appeared to have received “consulting fees” that helped reduce the family’s tax bill. The NYT reported, “Trump’s private records show that his company once paid $747,622 in fees to an unnamed consultant for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia. Ivanka Trump’s public disclosure forms – which she filed when joining the White House staff in 2017 – show that she had received an identical amount through a consulting company she co-owned.” The report added that between 2010 and 2018, Trump wrote off about $26 million in mysterious "consulting fees". Some of those fees seem to have been paid to his daughter Ivanka. The NYT report findings are being seen as a way for Trump to reduce his taxable income.

Since the report landed, Ivanka got bashed for acting as a consultant and taking a whooping fee on hotel deals that she actually helped manage as part of her usual job at the Trump Organization. A user ridiculed Ivanka for letting Trump lavishly spend on his lifestyle, “You paid 70k per year for Trump to get that haircut. You paid for his lavish lifestyle. You paid for his business failures. You paid a consultant fee to Ivanka Trump to pay her salary. You paid for his golden toilet. And you got a toilet of a President in return.”

A user joked: “Ivanka Trump checking Twitter tonight.” Another wrote, "Ivanka Trump you're a crook, Ivanka. You're going to jail for tax fraud!" A user commented, “If you make less than $200,000 per year, YOU paid Trump’s taxes. If you’re wondering where your second stimulus check went, Ivanka used it to buy a purse. If you wanna know where your paycheck goes...Eric and Don Jr went lion hunting with it.”

Others reminded Ivanka that she may go to jail over tax fraud. “Ivanka Trump you realize you’re going to jail for tax fraud right?” Another concurred, “Trouble for Ivanka? Witness an entire ‘Crime Family’ with Ivanka playing a prominent role with her father in tax evasion. Trump paid Ivanka a 'consultant fee' on the same hotel deals that she managed as part of her job. Apparently to transfer assets without incurring gift tax.” A user called out on white-collar tax evaders. “The entire Trump administration is a lesson in what happens when we don’t prosecute white-collar crime. Manafort, Cohen, Ivanka, Don Jr, Eric, and Donald himself all should have been sidelined years ago by prosecutors—and now each has faced white-collar sanctions since 2018.”
