What is Farmers to Families Food Box? Ivanka Trump appears in relief program, Internet says 'just for photo op'
Since leaving the White House, former senior adviser to Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump has not made any public appearances. On Tuesday, March 9, she posed for pictures as she helped deliver food boxes in Apopka, Florida, at an event for the Farmers to Families Food Box program.
A product of the previous administration, the program was implemented last April as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program to help both farmers and Americans in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. As Ivanka Trump took complete credit for the program, many on social media are saying that she was not there out of genuine concern but for a photo-op.

What is the 'Farmers to Families' program?
It looks like the Trump family is keen on pushing Ivanka as the one who spearheaded the program. Set up by the United States government and backed and launched by Ivanka, the program was intended to be a purchase and distribution program that required the United States Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce, dairy and meat products from American farmers, and redistribute them to food banks, community and faith-based organizations and other nonprofits serving Americans in need.
But while the program boasted doing well, reports started doing the rounds that only weeks before the Holiday season last year, the $4.5 billion-food program which fed many through the pandemic and the lockdown had started running out of money. According to a report by the Washington Post, it ended a month early in many regions in the country leaving thousands of families without a critical supply of food because of soaring demand and a shortage of federal money.
On social media, many are calling out those who tweeted to praise Ivanka. "It ended due to mismanagement Ivanka showed up for one day for a photo op," a user tweeted.

Another user, tweeting along the same lines, clarified, "Glad to know she surfaced from her $100 million house to distribute food boxes for like 10 minutes as part of a photo opp. Note: The food is not funded by Ivanka or the Trumps. It's funded by taxpayers through an FDA program."
Another critic of the Trumps said, "Paid for with our tax money; taxes from all Americans from both parties. It’s so refreshing to finally have a President who doesn’t constantly try to divide us, to denigrate those in the other party, and to take credit for everything. I’m glad you people are gone."
