The Associated Press (AP) on Wednesday, November 11 declared that President Donald Trump won Alaska over Joe Biden. The report also states that the Alaska election officials began counting absentee and other ballots, including questioned ballots, on Tuesday, November 10, a week after Election Day. The reason was attributed to the time needed to check precinct registers and guard against any potential duplicate votes, as per reports. But Trump is yet to concede the election and has declared he is taking the legal route to challenge the results.

Trump’s daughter and White House adviser Ivanka shared AP’s declaration of Alaska in Trump’s favor. She tweeted, “BREAKING: President Trump and Senate Republicans win Alaska, overwhelmingly and by a massive 20 point spread! Put AK in the books for @realDonaldTrump! Congratulations Senator @DanSullivan_AK! Thank you Alaska!”

However, when on Saturday, November 7, AP had called the presidential race in favor of Biden, the Trump family had been quick to slam media reports surrounding the news. Following AP’s declaration, other news networks had also declared the results in favor of Biden. But POTUS took to Twitter on Monday, November 9, night and shared a series of tweets where he blamed the media for his election defeat and accused many news outlets of "election interference" as their polls were "so far off" in many states in the US. He did single out Fox News specifically, which has in the past, been his favorite. He had tweeted, “"@FoxNews,@QuinnipiacPoll, ABC/WaPo, NBC/WSJ were so inaccurate with their polls on me, that it really is tampering with an Election. They were so far off in their polling, and in their attempt to suppress - that they should be called out for Election Interference..." Trump had also tweeted, “Since when does the Lamestream Media call who our next president will be? We have all learned a lot in the last two weeks.”

In stark contrast to what her father tweeted, Ivanka's tweet sparked a lot of reaction, mostly criticism. Some even questioned her stand on whether she believes the media’s election declarations or not. Television host Andy Cohen wrote: “I thought the news media can’t call elections, Ivanka. Can you please tweet me when you figure out WTF you’re talking about?” Actress Alyssa Milano quote-tweeted Ivanka’s post and wrote:  “Now you believe in election integrity, @IvankaTrump? Funny how the few states your daddy won, you’re all cool with but the states Biden won its “FRAUD!”.” Comedian Sarah Cooper shared AP’s declaration of Biden as the winner and said, “Oh you saw that @AP_Politics race call? Did you miss this one?”

There were other users as well who weighed in on her tweet. A user wrote: “Are you sure? Maybe there's been massive electoral fraud there and Biden actually won? I mean I've no evidence of that, but since when did that matter?” Another said, “But wait. I thought you didn’t believe the news media had a role in calling races. The Associated Press and every other major network says your father lost. Joe Biden is the president-elect. But yippee for Alaska. LOL. You will still be without a job on January 20, 2021.” Activist Fred Guttenberg wrote: “Glad to see @IvankaTrump is now accepting election results.  Now, let's discuss the transition to the winner of the Presidential election @JoeBiden.”Another stated, “The media can’t call races, sorry. He hasn’t won if it’s not certified. Your rules.”
