With Donald Trump's presidency now a thing of the past, anticipation into the Trump family's future in politics has garnered interest. As Trump remains embroiled in his second impeachment for "inciting an insurrection" regarding the armed takeover of Capitol Hill on January 6, the Trump family member everyone has eyes on is the former President's daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Amid rumors that Ivanka Trump might run for the Senate from Florida, current Senator Marco Rubio was asked by Fox News' Chris Wallace on how seriously he took Ivanka Trump as a political opponent.

Rubio responded, "I don't really get into the parlor games of Washington." He continued, "When you decide to run for re-election in a state like Florida, you have to be prepared for a competitive race, you run it like a competitive race, so that’s what I’m preparing to run, a very competitive race against a tough opponent." Rubio went on to say, "I don’t own the Senate seat, it doesn’t belong to me. If I want to be back in the US Senate I have to earn that every six years."

Rubio then said, "I like Ivanka, and we worked very well together on issues, and she's a US..." before trailing off. He then pivoted to a list of his successes "for the people of Florida" since he was first elected in 2010.

Wallace's question to Rubio came amid reports that the former First Daughter is considering launching a political run in Miami, Florida. According to Politico, Ivanka Trump's husband Jared Kushner is viewed as “working single-mindedly to protect and promote his wife’s ‘political career’.” The publication also cited two sources who stated that Trump's ally and mega-donor Tom Barrack has been pressing fellow Republican investors to "lure Ivanka" into entering the race.

A GOP fundraiser said, "He's calling people and trying to line them up saying Rubio is terrible, worthless, he's probably going to lose, Ivanka is going to go there and we should all get together and pledge our support to her and get her to run."

As we had reported earlier, Ivanka Trump and Kushner bought a $30 million-plus lot of land on Miami’s ultra-rich and high-security Indian Creek Island -- known as the “Billionaire’s Bunker.” According to reports, Ivanka Trump could use the next two years to consolidate her base in Florida and understand the issues that the state faces in order to make a political mark.

However, not everyone supports the former president's daughter's potential run for the Senate from Florida. One user tweeted, "It would be interesting to see her trying to run to his right, which is the only way she could win. It's EASY to get to his right, but can she? (and be believable)."

Another wrote, "Dear @IvankaTrump: Love your father. One of his most-loyal supporters. Unsolicited advice, if you actually care about his legacy and the Republican Party: Run for office in New York — not Florida."

Some users voiced their support for Ivanka. One user wrote, "Rubio's an assclown. Ivanka would mop the floor with that crooked little monkey." Another tweeted, "I hope to God she does because for all the ass kissing he did over the last four years this is a great pay back for him."
