Ivanka Trump fights back tears during dad's final speech as president, Tiffany and Don Jr also get emotional
President Donald J. Trump's children couldn't help but fight tears as their father departed Washington, D.C. on Air Force One for one last ride as US commander-in-chief.
Ivanka Trump, 39, the president's eldest daughter, was visibly overcome with emotion as she watched her father in the final hours of his presidency boarding a plane to South Florida, where he's expected to settle down at his beachfront club Mar-a-Lago.
The first daughter was accompanied by her husband and her children as she stood alongside her siblings Don Jr., Eric, and Tiffany. All the President's children tried their best to hold back tears during the emotional farewell ceremony at Joint Base Andrews.
Ivanka donned an old favorite, apt for the cold weather, according to the Daily Mail, wearing a $3,000 cream colored Atuzarra coat with black buttons, completing the look with heeled black boots. She was spotted walking across the tarmac with her family, including husband Jared Kushner, sons Theodore, Joseph, and daughter Arabella.
According to the newspaper, Ivanka may have applied at least a "tube a waterproof mascara" as her make-up remained intact as she got emotional during her father's farewell address.
Tiffany, 27, also seemed watery-eyed as she watched her dad's goodbye, but somehow managed to hold back her tears. Despite the chilly outing, she chose to wear a coat without sleeves. As noted by the paper, her camel-colored coat had long slits on each arm, revealing a bright pink lining inside. Tiffany also ensured the cameras captured her new engagement ring after she announced yesterday she was getting married to her fiancé Michael Boulos.
Meanwhile, 43-year-old Don Jr., the President's eldest son, also looked like he was holding back tears at the base as he stood beside girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle. And Eric, 37, was seen smiling at those gathered while holding hands with his wife, Lara, during the emotional moment.
The 45th President reassured his supporters during his remarks on the tarmac, vowing to always be there for them. "I will always fight for you. I will be watching, I will be listening and I will tell you the future of the country has never been better. I wish the new administration great luck and great success. They have the foundation to do something really spectacular and in a position like it has never been," he said.
"This has been an incredible four years, we’ve accomplished so much together," he continued. "I want to thank all of my family and my friends and my staff and so many other people for being here. I want to thank you for your effort, your hard work. People have no idea how hard this family worked, and they worked for you. They could have had a much easier life. But they just — they did a fantastic job. I just want to thank all of you — everyone."
Trump also noted the record-breaking number of votes he received in the election but did not refer to himself as the winner during his speech. "A lot of obstacles, we went to the obstacles and you get 75 million votes in the history of sitting presidents. It is an all-time record by a lot by many millions, really just an honor," he said.
In conclusion, Trump promised that "we will be back — in some form" and told his supporters: "Have a good life."
