Is Wayne Couzens a serial killer? Chilling details about Sarah Everard's alleged murderer has ‘all the hallmarks’
On March 13, 2021, Sarah Everard's body was identified by her dental records after it was found in a large bag similar to ones used by builders to transport heavy loads, a court heard. The details came at the initial hearing for a Metropolitan Police officer accused of the kidnapping and murder of the 33-year-old marketing executive. Everard's body was found a week after she reportedly went missing in a woodland near Ashford, Kent, in the UK. Now the internet says that the accused officer had all the traits of a "serial killer".
Wayne Couzens appeared in person before Westminster Magistrates' Court on March 13 following his arrest on March 9. The 48-year-old was remanded in custody and the case will next be heard at the Old Bailey on March 16.

Couzens is charged for kidnapping and killing Everard, who went missing while walking from the nearby Clapham Junction area to her home in Brixton. Everard, originally from York, had left her friend's house in Leathwaite Road around 9 pm on 3 March 2021. The last known sighting of her was captured on a doorbell camera just after 9.30 pm showing her walking alone toward Tulse Hill. As the search continued, human remains were found on March 10.
Officers also searched a disused garage which was reportedly once run by the Couzens family at the top of the white cliffs overlooking Dover harbor. The garage was run by the family for 48 years until 2015, the Times newspaper reports. Police were allegedly looking at the entrance to a network of tunnels, blocked by a metal gate, and a shelter underneath the garage.
The DailyMail reported that Couzens was accused of flashing someone twice in McDonald's just 72 hours before Everard was kidnapped. Couzens was reported to police after allegedly exposing himself at a south London branch of a fast-food chain on February 28, 2021. A statement from police watchdog the IOPC reportedly revealed they had received "two reports of indecent exposure at the restaurant."
As soon as these details came to light, people started talking about it. One Twitter user said: "Wayne Couzens could be a serial killer for years which needs to be looked at now. But the facts/numbers tell a different story. Everyone is wary these days, but women statistically are not killers or violent as men. You talking wholesale culture remake." While another one said: "The fact that Wayne Couzens took the body of Sarah Everard out of London and closer to home shows he has all the hallmarks of a serial killer. Serial killers usually stash bodies close to home so they can revist the site out of some sort of macabre need to relive the murder."
