Is Odell Beckham Jr OK? NFL star booted off plane while slipping in and out of consciousness delaying entire flight
Odell Beckham Jr was booted out of a plane and was reportedly "drifting in and out of consciousness" when the police were called to a medical emergency on a Miami-bound flight to Los Angeles on Sunday. On the busiest weekend of the year, the day after Thanksgiving, the flight was supposed to leave Miami at 9.30 am but was delayed for about an hour and a half. After the NFL star refused to depart the aircraft at the police's request, passengers were made to leave the flight, reported Daily Mail.
On the other hand, the NFL star tweeted on Sunday, saying, "Never in my life have I experienced what just happened to me... I've seen it all." He later tweeted, "He then tweeted 'Never. In. My. Life" and "I COULD NEVER MAKE THIS UP."

Daily Mail reported, a police statement reads, "At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department, were dispatched to a medical emergency at an American Airlines flight. The flight crew was concerned for a passenger (Mr. Odell Beckham), as they tried to wake him to fasten his seat belt, he appeared to be coming in and out of consciousness, prior to their departure. Fearing that Mr. Beckham was seriously ill, and that his condition would worsen through the expected 5 hour flight, the attendants called for police and fire rescue." It added, "Upon the officers arrival, the flight crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to exit the aircraft, which he refused. The aircraft was deplaned, at which time Mr. Beckham was asked by the officers to exit the plane, and did so without incident. Mr. Beckham was escorted to the non-secure area of the terminal by the officers where he made other arrangements."
The American Airlines statement added, "American Airlines flight 1228, with service from Miami (MIA) to Los Angeles (LAX), returned to the gate before takeoff due to a customer failing to follow crew member instructions and refusing to fasten their seatbelt. The customer was removed and the flight re-departed at 10:54 a.m. local time."
There is also a video that appears to show Beckham Jr being taken by police to the Miami airport's ticketing area which has circulated. The guy who captured Beckham Jr being dragged through the airport responded to Beckham's tweet about the 'comedy hour' by saying, "Forcing us off the plane because you were unresponsive and unruly is not comedy to the hundreds of folks trying to get home dude. Not cool man."

On Twitter, another passenger who claimed to be on the airplane posted, "I was on this flight he wasn’t unresponsive he was SLEEP. They tried to wake him up to put on his seat belt a couple times then they got aggressively rude with him and he responded with the same energy GTFOH."

Another user tweeted, "All he had to do was put on his seatbelt…the plane can’t leave if a passenger is refusing or unable to put on their seatbelt." Slamming the airlines, a user wrote, "You should be asking American Airlines why they overreacted. Waking a sleeping man and being aggressive towards him is not good customer service. Was it because he was a Black man and they're racist?" One user said, "Totally agree. Odell is rich enough(I assume—NFLers make big boy$$) to fly private. Most people on that plane were probably trying to get home from #Thanksgiving, and will probably have to miss flight connections, work Monday morning… Not cool!!" Another user said, "Ok. I just read the report and, as suspected, you are a liar. He was not unruly. This whole thing was blown out of proportion because of who he is. Smh." One user said, "He was passed out and the pilot wanted him removed. He wouldn’t leave. Pilot made all passengers disembark!"
