Is 'Nailed It' Season 7 canceled? Netflix baking show's crew walk out amid Halloween special
You're mistaken if you thought reality TV series centered around food might not have drama. And the show 'Nailed It!' is here to show you why. The baking show where contestants disastrously try to recreate exquisite confectionary creations has plenty of drama on-screen and apparently even off-screen. Most recently, the show garnered attention for swirling rumors of a shutdown by Netflix. Yes, that's right, the streaming giant is said to have pulled the plug on 'Nailed It!' while it was right between shooting its Halloween special. So what happens now? Well, here are all the details.
Hosted by comedian/actress Nicole Byer and celebrity chef Jacques Torres, the show will make its return to Netflix after all. But with only half as many episodes in Season 7 as compared to the rest of its seasons. As you see, back in March 2022, 'Nailed It!' while shooting its latest season faced a brief shutdown as many of its crew members walked out. The crew went on a strike in a bid to join IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees). The union was on strike against the reality series' producers, Magical Elves, and asked union members not to cross the picket line. But the drama cut deep as instead of meeting the crew halfway, the production company decided to shut the show down altogether.

IATSE confirmed the news by tweeting out, "In Los Angeles, California, the @IATSE is on strike against the production "Nailed It" produced by Magical Elves. This production has yet to negotiate with the IATSE, and we are asking Local 600 members to NOT cross the picket line."

Following some back-and-forth between the indie production company and Netflix, the two sides agreed not to proceed with the additional four episodes. And soon, the crew members were notified that production had wrapped. Shortly after, they were called in to collect their gear. Both Magical Elves and Netflix have denied to leave any comment regarding the matter. And Netflix has not opened up about how the streaming company plans to proceed further with new seasons of 'Nailed It!' or if they have permanently pulled the plug.
The series will now only air the four episodes shot before the shutdown. Season 7 of 'Nailed It' is titled 'Nailed it! Halloween' and is slated to air on Netflix on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. It will be Halloween-themed, and Netflix said that the upcoming series would have tricks and treats for everyone, and the desserts will be scary to keep up with the theme. It is rumoured to feature other actors from Netflix original shows such as Umbrella Academy, Cobra Kai, and The Witcher.
'Nailed It!' Season 7 will premiere on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, on Netflix.
