Is Kim Chung-ha okay? Singer admits having insomnia as she breaks down crying, says she's 'sad and angry'
Kim Chung-ha's busy work schedules seem to have taken their toll on the South Korean idol. The 25-year-old 'Why Don't You Know' singer reportedly opened up about her health and a secret "illness" she is battling with.
Chung-ha appeared on a recent episode of 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller', a KBS variety show that regularly features South Korean artists as guests. In the episode, Chung-ha admitted that she is suffering from insomnia lately and is sleeping for 2 hours a night, at most, according to Allkpop. The singer said her condition is the result of too much pressure and broke down crying as she told her story on the show. "I worked hard because I didn't want to negatively affect the people around me," she said, adding, "But when I was sick recently, I realized something. I was a little sad and a little angry."

According to healthline.com, some of the leading causes of insomnia include stress, an upsetting or traumatic event, or changes in sleeping habits (like sleeping in a new home or hotel).
This is one of the few times Chung-ha has spoken of the difficulties she faces in her career and opened up about her insomnia. The singer also recently came out of a battle with Covid-19 after testing positive for the coronavirus in December. Even after testing positive, Chung-ha showed her dedication to her work and commitment to fans. According to Soompi, she said, "I tried to be careful, but I guess it wasn’t enough. I was also urgently notified today and just found out. I’ll return again and promote in good health."
Work-life in 2020 & 2021
Chung-ha has had a busy year in 2020 and this year may prove even more hectic. She recently dropped her 'Querencia' project on February 15, Chung-ha's first studio album that has been in anticipation since her debut as a solo artist back in 2017.
In January 2020, Chung-ha collaborated with Paul Kim on the single 'Loveship. The following month, she was part of the soundtrack lineup for the SBS drama 'Dr. Romantic 2' with the track 'My Love', and she released a comeback single 'Everybody Has' on February 29 as part of MNH Entertainment's New.wav project. In March, she signed with American agency, ICM Partners, for her America and global promotions. Then in April, Chung-ha collaborated on the pop song 'Lie' with TVXQ singer Max Changmin, and released 'Stay Tonight'.
Almost every month that followed and leading up to the release of 'Querencia' saw the singer working on something crucial, so it is easy to see why her health has been hit and she surely needs a break.
Chung-ha has yet to comment further on her health but we hope she recovers soon and finds a sense of peace amid her busy schedules.
