Iranian viral star Sahar Tabar arrested for blasphemy and 'encouraging youths to corruption'
Sahar Tabar, who became famous for looking like Angelina Jolie with her bizarre make-up has been arrested. The Instagram star was detained by Tehran's guidance court. The court focuses on “cultural crimes and social and moral corruption”. Tabar has arrested under several charges including "blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means and encouraging youths to corruption," as reported by The Guardian. Tabar found a name for herself on Instagram after people were left shocked looking at her uncanny yet bizarre resemblance to the 'Maleficent' star.
Later, it was revealed that Tabar was able to achieve the look through various plastic surgery, photoshop, and make-up. It was revealed that Tabar had nearly 50 surgeries in order to look like a "zombie" version of the actress. When asked why Tabar liked to dress in a zombie version of the actress, the Instagram star noted that it was a way of expressing herself.
Despite getting a lot of criticism over her looks, it does not seem to bring down her spirits as even after all this time, she still posts pictures on her social media. Tabar had posted countless pictures of her zombie version of Jolie and in fact, managed to gain a lot of likes for the same.
"Every time I publish a photo I make my face more fun. It is my way of self-expression, a kind of art. My followers know that this is not my real face," she told in an interview with Sputnik News. Even though many still compare her to Jolie, who Sahar also calls her "idol", the 19-year-old explained that it was never her intention to look like the actress.
" I had no interest at all to be like Angelina Jolie, and I did not want to look like the character from “Corpse Bride”. I understand that I do have some similarities to them, but I am my own muse and I did not want to look like anyone. That was not my aim," she continued.
Sahar has also revealed the surgeries she has had. "Rhinoplasty, Botox for lips and liposuction operations," she said." I don’t see anything bad in this. It's simple and many people around the world do it. Here in Tehran, the cost of one operation is 10 million Iranian rials ($283)." While Sahar is happy with the way she looks, it was wasn't easy convincing her family to accept her new look. "They resisted as best they could at first. For them, it [plastic surgeries] is not a normal thing. But now my family totally supports me and that is the most important thing," she revealed.
