'Inventing Anna' Episode 4: Anna's BIG plan takes off with a stolen private jet
Now, we know that the entire banking system is flawed and not just in the US, it’s the same situation everywhere. This is exactly how Anna Delvey (Julia Garner) manipulated everything and worked to get what she needed. So, the first three episodes made us believe that Anna wanted to do something big in her life, but she didn’t have the resources. But she did manipulate people and got everyone aboard.
After Nora’s (Kate Burton) help, she practically had some of the most affluent people on her foundation’s advisory board. Now, all she needs is to get to the place she wants to. She will set up the art foundation at 281 Park building that’s one of the costliest places there. So, she bottles up everyone and tells them how she needs the place to be designed. For that, she needs money and she arranges a meeting with Alan Reed (Anthony Edwards) for financial assistance. At first, he says no because she doesn’t have some really crucial information. However, she feels that she is being stopped just because she is young and is a woman.

Anna doesn’t hold back and pursue him. Eventually, she did get his attention and called him for a dinner party with all his investors. Alan is surprised to learn how many rich and influential people are with her, so he also gets on board. She lets him get in contact with Peter Henecke, who is looking after her trust fund in Germany. So, he talks about everything and he makes everything available.
Everything was working quite nicely for her, and she even managed to steal a private jet. Yes, at 26, she stole a plane. Alan felt that he was living the best time of his life, he was meeting big clients and getting the money for his hard work. However, it was a lie. There came a time when Anna was going to lose everything because the National Bank did not approve her loan. So, Alan met Reggie at the bank and told him that this is disappointing.
So, Reggie meets Anna and tells her that the bank wants to establish a relationship with her and can open a bank account with an immediate transfer of $200,000. It was a blessing in disguise for her because her loan application was in the final stage at the Fortress and needed to deposit $100,000 so that they believe that the client has money.
In the end, Vivian finds out about the reality of Peter Hennecke. So, there are apps on the phone through which you can fake your voice and also, have the option of a virtual sim. So, she used both of them to portray that it was Peter from Germany. She slammed him into believing that she had money and Alan did it because he was getting long “billable hours” for which he would get a sh*t load of money.
So, he did a fraud himself by filling up a form and checking the box where it said if the client does have the assets for the repayment. The banking system is completely in shambles and this is the prime example of it.
