MOSCOW, IDAHO: A major breakthrough in the Idaho quadruple murder case came on Friday, December 30, when a suspect was arrested. Bryan Christopher Kohberger was caught more than a month after he allegedly killed Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin while they were sleeping in an off-campus house on November 13.
As per reports, the 28-year-old alleged murderer is currently being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility after he was taken into custody at his parents’ place in Pennsylvania. He will soon be extradited to Idaho where he will be pressed with charges. However, from the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Kohberger’s mugshot has been released to the public.

In the photo, the PhD student of criminology is seen wearing nothing on top except what appears to be like a vest, which left many internet users amused. A Reddit user wrote, “I know this is a weird and minor detail... But I have so many questions about this wrap/shirt thingy. Surely he didn't come in wearing that, so what is it? Some modern prison garment that is supposed to be easier to get on/off difficult inmates?”
The same user added, “Protect from harm in some way? Why is it quilted? What does the entire garment look like? Shirt or Robe length? Searching provided no clues as apparently no one else found the shirt the part of this story that caught their attention most.”
Some people took to the comment section of the Reddit post to share their views as one said, “It’s not a shirt but like a thick covering because he’s more than likely under suicide watch. It’s for his safety since he’s a high profile case.” Another one expressed, “It’s a suicide vest. It provides coverage like regular clothing, but it’s all Velcro’d together so it can’t be used to attempt suicide in the ways that one might potentially use a regular shirt or whatever to do so.” The third one added, “All I see is the fact he's been punched in the face and suffered a broken nose in the past.”
The apparent vest also initiated a discussion on Twitter with a person noting, “He wearing a Star Trek lookin Burnous or quilted mod vest deal. If he’s an alphabet, coverage of the saga ends now.” Angenette Levy, a correspondent and host for the Law&Crime Network, tweeted, “Bryan Kohberger's mugshot from the Monroe County, Jail in PA. Notice the vest he is wearing.” One user asked, "Is it a suicide vest." Levy then confirmed that it’s a “suicide vest” and explained why is he wearing that. She added, “You can't cut it to hang yourself. It's like a suit.”
