Internet wonders if Bryan Kohberger's dad knew of murders as footage shows them being stopped TWICE for speeding

MOSCOW, IDAHO: On the night of November 13, 2022, University of Idaho students - Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21 - were murdered in cold blood. It would take the police another seven weeks to apprehend the murder suspect, Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology student. Two weeks before Kohberger was finally arrested on December 30, 2022, he and his father Michael Kohberger were stopped for speeding twice in Indiana while on a cross-country road trip to the family's home in Pennsylvania.

According to police, on December 15, 2022, at around 10.41 am local time, an officer delivered a verbal warning and pulled over a white Hyundai Elantra for following another car too closely. Following the police stop, the same car, with Kohberger and his father in it, was stopped by an Indiana State Police trooper for the same reason. Notably, police had started searching for a white Hyundai Elantra on December 8, 2022, in connection with the gruesome killings. Bodycam footage of the two incidents has been released, and given the nature of violations, netizens have begun speculating as to whether Kohberger's father knew about his son's heinous crime and was trying to protect him.

ABC had reported at that time that the body camera footage showed two males inside the car, one of whom was identified as the suspect and the other as the suspect's father. As per FOX59 reporter Max Lewis, after releasing the bodycam footage, Indiana State Police had said that there was no information available for a suspect in the Idaho murders at that time. In the bodycam footage that Lewis tweeted, the officer who stopped Kohberger and his father for the second time can be heard letting them off with a warning, saying that it was all about how fast they were going. 

Now, given the fact that the Hyundai Elantra with the Idaho suspect in it was stopped twice for overspeeding on the same day, weeks after police reportedly started a hunt for the vehicle in connection with the November 13 murders, several netizens are questioning as to what could have led to the hurry and why did Kohberger and his father continue to speed despite being stopped once for the same reason. This, in turn, has led to speculations online that Kohberger's father might have had some knowledge about his son's crime. 

"I was just wondering if Bryan's dad was aware of the crime that his son committed. This thing came to my mind because I was constantly thinking about the bodycam footage. Maybe they were trying to get him out of trouble or something. If not, I feel so so bad for the Kohberger family," a Reddit user who goes by the name Puzzleheaded_Milk221 wrote on the social media platform.

Several others too, added their views in the comments. "Hopefully he didn't do this cuz just that part alone has to have him feeling really weary. He's a forensics major so maybe he's sure the evidence won't add up. Dunno just apeculation (sic)," commented one user, while another wrote, "I can understand someone being in denial and blind to the signs. But knowing your kid did a 4x homicide and deciding to cover it up for him...?"
