'Killer was waiting inside the house': Web sleuths float new theory on University of Idaho murders

MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the investigation of the University of Idaho students' murder is ongoing, internet users started to debate over the possibility that the killer was already in the Idaho murder house and was waiting for the right moment to strike the victims. Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were fatally stabbed on November 13 between 3 am and 4 am as they slept in their rented house on King Road, close to the university.
One person wrote on Reddit, “I think he probably was in the unused bedroom waiting.” Another user agreed, “This is the only thing that makes sense. He entered and waited until they fell asleep.” Someone noted, “Maybe he didn't care if he got caught. Maybe he just had a blood lust to satisfy and didn't care about the consequences. Getting away was just an unplanned coincidence where stuff worked out for him.”

“This is what makes me go back to ‘he was waiting inside the house’…it seems like he may have started his attack when the roommates talking quieted down/he figured they had fallen asleep,” another added. “Thrill seeker,” another user remarked. Someone theorized, “Could be on to something there. Supposedly X’s dad spoke to her at midnight and she was home watching tv with Ethan. That would make them the only two people in the house. They could’ve been murdered before the other 4 even came home. He could’ve stayed in their room with the door locked waiting for K & M, snuck upstairs & killed them without B & D hearing.”
However, not everyone thought the same way as one person argued saying, “This is what I keep going back to and it doesn’t make sense to me. There were SIX people in the house, which increased the chance of getting caught. They were in a highly populated neighborhood which also increased the chance of getting caught. On top of this, there were 4 (or 5) cars parked right in front of the house and their lights were on until at least 3:00 AM. This was incredibly risky.” Meanwhile, Cops are currently looking for a white 2011-2013 Hyundai that was spotted near the crime site earlier on November 13.
