Jeffrey Dahmer's so-called fan following seems to have increased manifold after the release of Netflix's 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story'. Dahmer, who carried out 17 brutal murders between 1978 and 1991, has once again returned to public memory thanks to the docuseries.

Jeffrey Dahmer's infamous murders involved rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism. While most would balk at his unspeakable crimes, there are some dark depths of the internet where the serial killer is revered.

According to research, reading crime news can cause exaggerated anxieties about becoming a victim, and for individuals who have experienced violence, the abundance of information can be difficult to handle. Recently released on Netflix, 'Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' immediately rose to the top of the streaming service's all-time most-watched series list. Families of the victims have since expressed their disapproval, saying that having audiences revisit the incident traumatized them.

Despite having no advance promotion, the ten-part miniseries had Netflix's biggest-ever series debut on September 21. In its initial week of availability, subscribers watched the show for approximately 200 million hours, more than three times as long as the next most popular Netflix series.
