MOSCOW, IDAHO: More than five years after the slayings of two Indiana teens, Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, the culprit is finally behind the bars. The 50-year-old Richard Matthew Allen, who got charged with two counts of murder on October 31, 2022, is scheduled for trial in January 13, 2023, in the Carroll County Circuit Court. But what has caught the attention of internet sleuths now is the striking similarities of the Delphi case to the cold-blooded University of Idaho murders.

From how both crimes took place in small towns to how law enforcement (LE) is handling the Idaho investigation, many shared their take comparing the two. One wrote on Reddit, "In both cases, these are very violent crimes that occurred in small towns where you wouldn't expect them to happen. They involve young women and girls who were seemingly attacked at random. In both cases, the investigators closed ranks and refused to disclose information surrounding the case."

Describing further, another commented, "Both are killings of young people in places where it shouldn't occur. With no indication of a suspect (until many years later Delphi). Both are huge cases with tons of attention and, for all intents and purposes, LE media blackouts. Communities are scared - as they should be - and there's not much confidence in the investigation due to things like the time that has passed, the evidence that was left, and modern-day digital crime tools."

Murders on 13th day of the month

One pointed out, in both cases, the victims were murdered on the 13th day of the month. In Delphi murder case, the two girls were killed while visiting the Monon High Bridge on February 13, 2017. While the murder of four University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, took place in the early morning hours of November 13. The individual wrote, "Multiple homicides that included females. Rural LE with State Police and FBI. Lots of rumors and finger-pointing. LE was poorly communicated. Big case with lots of followers. Both happened on the 13th with a sharp object."
