WASHINGTON, DC: US Representative Ilhan Omar, one of "The Squad" members, a group of far-left House Democrats, has sparked an uproar with her remarks on Hamas' attack on Israel, in stark contrast to the bipartisan support often seen in Congress over US-Israel relations.

Representatives Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib are also part of the infamous group that has spurred calls for their expulsion from Congress and angered some of their own party members.

Following Omar's comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict, old allegations of the US Representative being married to her brother have resurfaced and now the Internet wants her to be deported.

What is the truth behind Ilhan Omar's alleged marriage to her brother?

The Democratic representative from Minnesota has been mired in a web of claims that she married her brother for immigration purposes. However, none of these allegations have been supported by any hard data.

According to the Associated Press, Omar divorced her then-husband Ahmed Hirsi in 2019, citing "irretrievable breakdown" as the reaosn for the separation.

Some claimed that this might be a sign of the marriage's forgery, while others suggested that there are endless reasons for divorce, making it an untrustworthy piece of proof.

The reason why the marriage failed was not explained in the petition. It happened more than a month after a woman in Washington, DC, claimed Omar was having an affair with her husband.

Omar has faced queries about her personal life ever since she first ran for state representative in 2016.

Some conservatives claimed she was married to two men at a time and that one of them was her brother, which Omar labeled "disgusting lies."

Former President Donald Trump alleged Ilhan Omar 'married her brother'

Former President Donald Trump, who often made Omar an ongoing target of criticism on social media and in public, did not hold back from claiming that Omar "married her brother."

As per Bloomberg, Trump pushed the Justice Department in 2020 to investigate Omar while criticizing the Democrat and repeating unproven claims that she married her brother and immigrated to the US illegally.

Trump also suggested that Omar and three other Democratic congresswomen of color "go back" to their home nations, as Omar was born in Somalia.

Trump further criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying, "If you look at the House with Pelosi and these people, it’s like they hate Israel and they believe in Omar, who came in here and married her brother or something, came in illegally."

The former US president told the media in July 2019, "I’m sure somebody would be looking at that."

However, no proof of Omar marrying her brother or entering the country illegally has come to light.

Internet calls for Ilhan Omar to be deported

Despite the absence of any hard evidence, Internet users did not hold back from blasting the Democratic congresswoman for the alleged marriage to her brother.

Following an X user's suggestion of Omar's extradition, one user exclaimed, "YES! Run her out of the country PDQ!"

A second one said, "Yes deport her and the other squad members. Then repeal the 1992 law that allows Muslims to serve in Congress."

A third one typed, "If she broke immigration law and it can be proved….absolutely," while another one claimed, "She needs to be removed from Congress."

One more online user agreed and said, "Should have been done a long time ago!"

"She should be removed from Congress and end all security briefing and end her security clearance," seethed another one.

Another one exclaimed, "It’s inexplicable she gets away with this charade! She represents the largest Jewish community in Minnesota."
