Inside ‘Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp’ star Jonathan Knight’s battle to save his farm
CAMPGROUND, NEW ENGLAND: The legal dispute between Jonathan Knight and the Trustees of Reservations delves into allegations surrounding the conservation restrictions governing Knight's farm in Essex, Massachusetts. These restrictions, dating back to 1976, were established to safeguard the land's natural integrity and agricultural essence.
As per the restrictions, only structures supporting farming activities were permitted to be constructed. However, during inspection, it was noted that the central staircase inside the barn indicated it was designed for residential purposes rather than farming activities.
This revelation sparked a legal conflict between Knight and the Trustees. The organization filed a lawsuit against Knight, insisting that he either convert the structure into a barn compliant with the restrictions or demolish it altogether to uphold the land's integrity.
For Knight, renowned for his boy-band fame and now as the star of HGTV's 'Farmhouse Fixer,' the lawsuit came as a shock. His vision for the property was to craft his dream farmhouse, where he and his husband could settle down, raise a family, and cultivate crops. However, the conservation restrictions imposed by the Trustees posed significant obstacles to his aspirations.
Despite years of negotiations and efforts to adhere to the restrictions, Knight found himself at odds with the Trustees. His attempts to obtain approval for his farmhouse renovations were consistently met with delays and rejections, fueling frustration and eventually prompting legal action. The dispute escalated as Knight continued construction on the property, believing that eventually, he would secure the necessary permissions.
However, the Trustees viewed his actions as violations of the conservation restrictions, prompting further legal action against him. Knight vehemently denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he was committed to preserving the land and fulfilling his vision for his farmhouse.
However, the legal battle took its toll, straining his relationship with the Trustees and jeopardizing his plans for the property. Despite the challenges, Knight remained resolute in his determination to fight for his farmhouse, unwavering in his commitment to realizing his dream home

They experienced multiple attempts and the loss of pregnancies, which made the process emotionally draining. Lance highlighted how choosing donors and facing repeated failures took a significant emotional toll on them.
Despite the setbacks, Lance and Michael finally welcomed their twins, Alexander and Violet, via surrogate in October 2021. Jonathan and Harley, on the other hand, have not yet succeeded in their attempts but continue to support each other through their journey.
