LATAH COUNTY, IDAHO: Alleged Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger has found God in prison and attends mass every Sunday, sources have said. He is also obsessed with following his own case. Kohberger, 28, has been accused of fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, in their off-campus three-story rented home on November 13, 2022. He was arrested in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on December 30, 2022.

Kohberger is given daytime access to a television where he follows his case from behind the bars. "He watches himself all the time," one of his fellow inmates told the Daily Mail. "It's really kind of bizarre." Kohberger is being held without bail at the Latah County Jail since early January. At around 7 pm on Sundays, he meets with the local pastor. "He sits down with the pastor and receives his own private mass," said a source inside the jail said of Kohberger. "It's just the two of them. And no, I have no idea what they might talk about."

'He always has the same expression'

Kohberger hardly pays heed to inmates shouting at him as he walks past their cells, a jail official said. On one occasion, an inmate named Tyson yelled "bi***" at him, but he did not flinch. He simply gave Tyson a stare, without stopping, and walked away, an inmate said. "He always has the same expression, or non-expression," one inmate said. "He just looks straight ahead. I've never even seen his eyebrows or mouth move. He never says anything."

Most of the time, Kohberger spends his time in a private cell, alone, and rarely talks to other inmates. When he steps out to go to the library or see his lawyers, he is always escorted by multiple correction officers. One Latah jail official said Kohberger has been behaving well and has no incidents.

'I hope he gets the death penalty'

"I've been reading about the whole case since it started and knew he was in there," said recently-released inmate Kyler Ledet. "It's disturbing that something like that can happen in my hometown. I'm just happy I wasn't in the same cell at his."

"I've only seen him a few times," he said. "He was wearing orange sweats and an orange t-shirt, with two guards accompanying him wherever he needs to go." Ledet, who shared a cell with five people, said the jail was "cold and disgusting."

"We'd always talk about the fact he was in the same jail with us," he said. "Nobody liked the guy, I could tell you that. There's a lot of hatred. But we were in awe of him. Nothing like that really happens around Moscow. It shocked a lot of people."

"I hope he gets the death penalty," inmate Harrison Papillon said, adding, "I'd be shocked if he didn't." He continued, "We'd always talk about the fact he was in the same jail with us. Nobody liked the guy, I could tell you that. There's a lot of hatred. But we were in awe of him. Nothing like that really happens around Moscow. It shocked a lot of people."

"He's only about 30 feet from my cell," he said. "It's truly crazy. I can't believe I'm in here with one of the most infamous (alleged) mass murderers in the United States."
