'In the Dark' Season 2 Episode 2: Fans heartbroken after Max has to leave but thankful that Murphy has Jess
Spoilers for 'In the Dark' Season 2 Episode 2 'Cross My Heart and Hope to Lie'
This week's episode of 'In the Dark' saw the return of a much-awaited character. Max Parish (Casey Deidrick) returned to Chicago and covertly met Murphy Mason (Perry Matfield) in the bar where she was having drinks with Jess Damon (Brooke Markham).
He tells her about the motel he is staying at and gives her the key and directions to his room at the motel. When Murphy goes over, she ends up kissing and then sleeping with him, much to the delight of viewers who ship them.
Unfortunately, their time together was cut short. Murphy was forced to break up with Max after she learned that Dean Riley (Rich Sommer) was after him so he could question him about the drug kingpin Nia Bailey (Nicki Micheaux).
Nia herself wanted to get rid of Max and tasked Darnell James (Keston John) with doing it in exchange for getting out. However, Darnell let Max go and asked him to leave the city.
Though Jess fought with Murphy because the latter didn't tell her about Max when she learned that Dean was looking for Max, she was quick to run to Murphy and warn her.
It was also Jess who told Murphy that she needed to break up with Max so that he will leave for sure — Max would not care that Dean was after him as long as he could spend time with Murphy.
Fans undoubtedly were excited to see Max onscreen again but were upset he had to leave. One fan tweeted, "Murphy and Max both love each other so much but they're trying to protect each other. #InTheDark."
Another wrote, "I went from [happy face] to [sad face] during tonight’s #InTheDark episode ... *spoiler alert* I hope that wasn't the last we see of Max. I like M & M together!"
A fan tweeted, "Murphy did what she had to do and Max knew she was right. #InTheDark," while another wrote, "This Murphy and Max scene is absolutely heartbreaking. Even though she is doing this to protect him, everything she is saying is true and that's why it's even more heartbreaking."
However, fans were glad that Murphy had Jess for support. One fan wrote, "Jess will always have Murphy’s back no matter what," and another tweeted, "JESS AND MURPHY MEAN THE WORLD TO ME DOT COM. #InTheDark."
'In the Dark' airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c.
