BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Olivia Dunne, a 20-year-old gymnast from Louisiana State University (LSU) who has been named the most influential female college athlete, recently shut down a fan who made an inappropriate NSFW comment by typing "Mommy" with a heart emoji. The comment prompted Dunne to respond in a since-deleted video, saying, "No, I'm not going to crush your skull with my thighs. Also, I'm not your mommy."

Her reaction led to even more fans commenting on her TikTok post, according to The Sun. One wrote, as per the outlet, "Day 1 of saying hi until she responds." Another wrote, "If Livvy replies then I will be the happiest man alive." One more said, "Livvy replying to your comment gotta be the biggest flex ever."

Olivia Dunne's fans mobbed Utah meet

This comes after Dunne issued a statement on Twitter, in January 2023, asking fans to be respectful of gymnasts as she wrote, "I will always appreciate and love the support from you guys, but if you come to a meet, I want to ask you to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community as we are just doing our job." LSU hired a security guard to accompany its gymnastics team after Dunne's fans mobbed a meet at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on January 6, reports ESPN, with them shouting, “We want Livvy! Give us Livvy!”

Commenting on the fans, at that time, former US Olympic gymnastic team member and ESPN analyst Samantha Pesze, tweeted, "This is actually so scary and disturbing and cringey. I’m embarrassed for them.”

About LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne

With more than 6.8 million followers on TikTok and 3.6 million on Instagram, Dunne shot to fame in 2019 after posting gymnastic-related videos on TikTok, states Indy100. However, it was in 2014, when she started competing as a gymnast and in 2017, became a member of the US National Gymnastics Team. She currently competes at the collegiate level in the NCAA.

Dunne, who earns $2 million a year through name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals, was also criticized by Tara VanDerveer, a well-known women's basketball coach. VanDerveer stated that these deals are harmful to female athletes in conversation with the New York Times. The coach said, "I guess sometimes we have this swinging pendulum, where we maybe take two steps forward, and then we take a step back. We're fighting for all the opportunities to compete, to play, to have resources, to have facilities, to have coaches, and all the things that go with Olympic-caliber athletics. This is a step back."
